I thought it would be excellent if each dye had two modes: mat or glossy.

I would really love to see that implemented, I think it would great, especially with heavy armors.

Shininess I am thinking about looks like the effect on your armor when you carry legendary juggernaut for example:

Many armors show glossiness on higher graphical settings, even Sylvari Racial armors, but on lower settings I’ve found the “Dark” heavy armor from higher level Karma vendors is pretty shiny at least.

Bump the graphics up, otherwise the gear is bland and dull.
Playing on ultra, everything is just shiny and beautiful.

But its not the kind of shininess I have in mind. I was more thinking about the effect u can get while wieldinglegendary juggernaut for example. Here’s link for reference

I have the opposite problem! My warrior is a street rat wearing scrounged and grungy gear but even when I put in dull browns and greys, the reflections on her plate are blinding. I do have graphics way up. Once I find the right scrappy looking skins I’ll transmute to make her look less polished; still, metal in this game simply -gleams- in any kind of bright light.

I don’t know if anything will glow on its own, though, if that’s what you’re seeking. A matte/glossy toggle as you suggest might help give more customization, which is always nice.

I dont mean glowing on its own, more like making items look like well polished.

In that case it’s most likely graphics settings. I get plenty of polish despite trying not to. A guildie recently got Silver Dye and linked it; that looked like it would really shine when I previewed. Most of the pale greys will gleam, and Iron gives a bluish white reflection on the helmet you can get from karma in Gendarran Fields, the engraved helm with a high floating plume.

I disagree that every dye should have a shinny effect like in the youtube video. It would be nice to have a range of shiny dyes (off course with the right price). But afaik this already exist (mostly the vibrant colours). maybe some specifick colours could be added though.

Here, I got a picture of my oh-so-shiny armor (made it myself!). It’s even more noticeable in motion as the light shifts across the plates.
