Something I noticed a lot is people talking about how anet should have taken more from gw1 into gw2. I agree with them on some margin. One thing I think gw2 needs is more competitiveness. Something that is imperative for games, especially ones that revolve around horizontal progression, is competitiveness. This helps promote streams. Here is a list of what I think they should do to help bring gw1 features into gw2 in terms of how competitive gw1 was. What does everyone else think gw2 should take over from gw1? Any particular design, skill setup, or things like that?
My idea:
1. Hardcore PvE.
-Hardcore Meta events. Talk to an NPC to enter a instance for the meta event the npc is located at. The team you can que up with (similar to a roster setup when queing up for tpvp) would be comprised of 20 or some number of people. These people would have to work together and complete the hardcore version of a meta event. At the end they would get points based on player deaths, time taken, kills, and whatever else you think should factor into it. The amount of points would be recorded and a leaderboard for that meta event would be available.
-Hardcore Dungeons- These would be harder than the non hardcore versions, but have a higher chance of dropping good gear on top of having exclusive items that are there for only cosmetic reasons. They would both drop the same amount of rariety (non hardcore and hardcore) but the hardcore mode would have a higher chance and have some rare special looking unique items that can’t be sold over the TP.
2. Guild Support similar to Gw1
-Guild halls, of course
- Guild Towns. Basically when a guild partakes in hardcore versions of the game and if they take something in WvW where there is a certain amount of players from the guild present during the taking, they get a “Guild Honor”. Honor will always go up and never have a cap. The guilds with the highest honor will be granted their own towns. These are like the PvE version of guild claiming in WvW. Guilds will be able to spend influence to buy various upgrades for these town. Guilds can open a section of these towns to the public or close it and it only be accessible by guild members. Inside this section will be special weapons that are similar to guild emblems in their customization. What this means is that the guild can access this vendor and change the looks of the items. The changes and different parts of the weapon would take influences from the area they’re in. Such as a base in dregehaunt. Maybe a dwarven/dredge hybrid looking weapon if there was a town in there. So long as your guild stays active and you continue doing things ingame to earn honor, you can keep these towns. IF you go inactive and another guild manages to surpass you in honor, you lose the town you owned and get moved down one town and when a town changes ownership, it loses all influence upgrades. The town your guild owns will of course have your guild emblem all over it.
3. More emphasis on competitive PvP. This seems to be happening in the next patches.
So what are some gw1 features everyone would like to see in gw2?
