Should they make HoM rewards available in Black lion trading company?

I wouldn’t mind having the chance to buy the black moa. I know its available through playing GW1 which I have but i haven’t played it in years.

No. It’s meant for people who played GW. You can still go back and play it if you want the black moa.

I don`t think it would be that big of a deal if they did make the hom items available with gems. They would still have to buy them as where I or anyone else can go to the legacy guy as many times as I like. I really don`t think anyone cares I have a deldrimor mace skin. But if anyone wanted it, let em buy it. Mine was Anets way of saying thank you for investing time in the original game. Any idea how many heritage armor sets they would sell? I would bet alot.

@Bane
They would be backstabbing a LOT of people if they did that, many of whom bought all of the campaigns and the expansion to unlock HoM before launch. Arenanet even made a special deal of Prophecies+EoTN using HoM for enticing people to buy it, it would be plain ridiculous if they simply decided to sell HoM stuff at the store. Again, you can already buy those items by buying a campaign and EoTN and playing GW.

They might as well sell event exp boosters exotics and whatnot. Doesn’t mean it’ll be done.

If they wanted so many extra cash, there would have been a few update for new items on gemstore already, like F2P games do.
“It’s update day! we fix 1 typo in the game and add 5 new items on cash shop!!”

Maybe you missed the memo about when they stopped selling copies of the game because introducing more players would degrade the experience of the current customers? Anet isn’t going to shaft their players for a couple bucks.

As somebody who worked very hard for the items I got for the HOM absolutely not. If you want them you can still go to GW and earn them.

I really don`t think it would backstab anyone. I bought the original game in 05 and paid for all the expansions, dlc, costumes, and extra slots. I earned 3/4 of the rewards through my years playing. My perk is I get all that stuff for free as many times as i want it. Anyone who didn`t play the original would have to pay for them. Anet would have alot to gain if they made them available. I think I remember reading somewhere that they said they would never sell the hom stuff now that I think about it. But it wouldn`t bother me in the least if they did.

I don’t know… It really bugs me that the HoM pet skins are included as separate pets in my pet tab, making me feel like I am somehow incomplete as a Ranger without them. But that’s just my OCD tendencies, not really an argument for anything.
Personally, I give akittenif the player next to me got her tabby from playing GW1, or from using the gem store. I don’t connect any sort of pride to my HoM stuff. I just got what I could because I liked the items. shrug

The HoM pets are seperate pets… They even have their own unique skills.
But no, definitely not.
HoM was a reward for players who achieved things in their previous game. That’s a nice sentiment that would be ruined by making it a cash shop function.
You can always go back and experience the awesomeness of GW1.

That is just false. Their “unique” skill is the same as another pet of the same category, and their stats are even inferior in comparison to the pet they’re cloned from. They’re not even worth using in terms of efficient play.
Edit: I just checked the wiki, and they might have fixed the stats issue.

Honestly, I’m fine with getting rewards in GW2 for playing GW1. It’s a good way to reward loyalty in your fan base. I also don’t think those items should be sold on the market, though I personally wouldn’t be that heartbroken if they did.
The only part I had a problem with is attaching achievements in GW2 that are reliant on playing GW1. You didn’t achieve anything in THIS game by playing THAT game. It doesn’t make sense to have achievements for it. Just bugs me since I’m a bit of an achievement kitten.
Other than that, have at the pets and titles and such. If I need to take a break from GW2, I’ll probably pick up GW1 and play it for a bit to get some of the extras. It’s not really detracting away from my enjoyment at all.
In the end, locking content in GW2 is just a gimmick to continue to make money off of GW1. The completionists like myself are going to end up picking up the original game in order to get everything in GW2. Sucks to have things that are completely reliant on another game in order to get, but that’s marketing for you. And, hey, it works.

No way, the armor skins aren’t even that great, but I worked hard to get them.
If you want them, go put in the hours in GW1 to get them. Sorry that you don’t have a Black Moa, but it doesn’t even mean anything to you if you didn’t play GW1, to you it’s likely just a Moa with a weird collar that you can’t get.

As someone that got to level 30 rewards in HoM, I wouldn’t mind 1 bit. I had a TON of fun getting to level 30 so it wouldn’t matter to me. Me and my buddy had 2 accounts each so getting the pets as birthday presents was awesome! I sold them all to get a ton of money and get some of the more expensive gear sets.
But like I said, if it gives ANET a bit more money for all their hard work, I mind not at all

I put a lot of time, effort and some major grinding in over the 5 yrs to get all my titles etc in GW1 and the HoM rewards to carry over to GW2. I admit half the stuff like the pets etc i probably won’t use. But these are rewards I earned by giving my time and effort, I can’t even see if my GWAMM or Champion of the Gods title I carried into GW2 on display for myself after selecting it, i just have to trust that other players are able to see it, so instead being able to wear a pair of Fiery God Armbraces or parade my Black Widow Spider I earned in HoM satisfies my vanity.
I can live with all the bugs currently in the game as i know Anet will eventually get these sorted, but one thing that will make me walk from this game, is if all my years of time and effort is cheapened by having items a lot of us earned in GW1 just put up for general sale to anyone who can afford them.
So a big no from me, if you want these items then GW1 servers are still up, put some time and effort in getting them like the rest of us did.

I have GW1, but I’m someone pretty lazy and I could be careless about GW1 after playing GW2 for almost a month(I can’t even log because I don’t remember my pass and char name). All I’d want is either 10 or 30 rewards, I can live without those though. I don’t know how hard it is to get 10 and 30 HoM pts, but I doubt I’d be able to play GW1 for more than an hour, lol.
But yeah, I could be careless, even though I like these skins, there is always nice alternatives and atm I got a pretty nice set, if it wasn’t for the boots, don’t really like them.
If they happen to add them to Gem Store, I will buy them for sure, as long as they aren’t above 2k gems a piece.

It’s a hot button subject.
As someone who passionately disliked the GW1 structure and couldn’t even force myself to grind out GW1 achievements in anticipation of GW2 pet unlocks (which was my only motivation), it does irk me that I’m having less access to content in GW2 because I dislike a completely different game with a totally different game structure.
Yet at the same time, making specific things (like the pet skins) available in the Gem Store would make many of the original GW1 players foam at the mouth in their rage. While I can partially see their point of view, I think that they’re wrong. However regardless of what I think, this is definitely a subject that ArenaNet would be wise to avoid. It just provokes too many extreme opinions and emotions on both sides of the fence.

Simply put the answer is no. A ton of people put a lot of time and effort through GW 1 to earn those HoM rewards. The HoM has been out for two years and will continue to be so, there’s still time if people want to hop into GW 1 to earn those rewards.
There are also a ton of great looking cosmetic items in GW2 itself for players to have, and it’s probably a sure bet that ANet will provide a bunch of new cosmetic items to purchase through the gem store or earn in game in the future.
The premise of HoM was a thank you to players who supported ANet and GW 1 through the years and it should remain that way. I think it’s best to not even bring up this topic anymore and just let it be.

Currently im playing GW1 so i can gain points towards the GW2 HOM. Great game i must say! Only fit I have with it is that a lot of the gaming community moved on to GW2 making it very slow to progress. Finding help is very hard when wanting to complete missions and dungeons.
Because of this I find myself having a hard time gaining those points. Was it easier to group up before the launch of GW2? Was the server much more full too?
Its a shame play a game with too low of a population. Getting into groups is not possible anymore. Almost like your giving money away to to do something not achievable as a result of the population going way down.
Because of this I find myself wanting to see some of the HoM rewards on the store, although ill still try to plug away at it.

I have the game and am currently playing it. Its fun but the only problem is that its too single playerish now, no ones out there for co-op play. Progressing in the game is feasible but grouping up to do certain missions, dungeons, etc are too hard with no one on anymore.
Im sure a lot of people have no problem playing the game, but they will have a problem if the community is just not there to reach their goals.
Its a fun game but lack of the online community makes the HoM progression unnatural and cumbersome..

No. I already wish the GW1 armor skins such as Primeval were HOM rewards instead of gem store items. And this is from someone that only has 20 or so HoM points so I’m missing several items. Even beyond the effort it takes to get them, I think people should at least try out GW1 so they can objectively see what has been changed for the better and for the worse since the previous game and have a more educated opinion on various issues.

No. Those rewards should always be exclusive to GW1 players who earned them in game. To sell them or even make them available to earn in GW2 would be a very bad idea that would anger many players.
The Moa could easily be doubled with a new skin/texture and a variant could be made available.

Even when GW1 still had a decent population nobody really grouped up, Heros are better than people most of the time because they work for you, and dont have a mind of their own to ignore where you’re going

I’ll join the “no” side of this. I knew a year ago that I could get interesting cosmetics if I was willing to grind through GW1. I have many guildmates that got to 30 and a couple that got to 50, and I could have joined them if I’d wanted.
However, a huge inducement to me about GW2 was the no-grind philosophy. I made a conscious choice not to work for the HoM rewards and though I like the skins and the minis, I do not regret the choice or think I should get them in some other fashion. That’s like saying “Joe worked for 30 years for this one company, he gets a gold watch,” and the other employees saying “Oh, can we have an identical watch?”
A thank you for doing something means something only if it remains special to that act.

The rewards are not all that great, no need to cheapen them any further. They’re pretty much just sentimental stuff from the old game we liked. Like, yeah, getting the Black Moa was an adventure I remember still. I don’t want to see some punks get it for no effort at BLTC just because “we didn’t like your previous product.” I mean, what sort of argument is that? That’s like getting a new job and telling your boss you need a raise, because previously the place you now work in sucked as an employer and you didn’t want to work there.

When someone from wow asks me “Where did you get that GS?” (Just a normal GS with fellblade skin) I’m proud to answer that i’ve got it because i’m a really old player from a game that some years ago he was probably laughing at..
Hom rewards are something not OP, not really useful etc…but they are something that is given to the “Old guard” players that when guild wars wasn’t the first choice in mmo they choose it, they put passion in it from the very first time in Prophecies, like me, and now they finally got rewarded for their loyality…it makes me also a little proud knowing that other players from other games can farm all day, run dungeons 24/7 but they will never have a fellblade, a black moa or God Walking Among Mere Mortals title and other little things that separate old players, who made gw2 possible, from others….
If you didn’t fight the charrs in the name of Ascalon you don’t deserve a fellblade
