Slayer Achievement and Giants
Agreed. I always wondered about this achievement…
I am only aware of 3 spawn locations and 4 giants total in the game. I know the two in Brisban will count for the title. I am not sure if the ones in Harathi Hinterlands and Diessa Plateu will count. The ones in Harathi and Diessa are also champions who are part of the event there.
The champion in Diessa definitely counts – it’s why I’m up to 4 giant kills on my acount.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
- Jareth, King of Goblins.
Seriously, those risen giants, and giant ANYTHING should count.
I really don’t know how we are expected to kill 1000 giants in this game. Are people supposed to camp a spawn point for a giant? I can just see hundreds of people camping a spot, waiting for a giant to spawn so they can try to kill it and finish getting the Slayer achievement. And doing it 900 plus times.
I expect the Giganticus Lupicus to make a return at some point
Yeah that’s pretty disappointing to kill giants in orr only to see they do not count.
any foe larger by a significant amount should count towards the giant title. I killed a giant whale in Forstgorge, and a large (undead?) shark somewhere, neither of which counted.
You can sometimes find a normal Giant in Toxal Bog in the Brisban Wildlands. He’s a lot easier to kill than the Champion in Diessa Plateau, but I think he may be brought there by the Chaos magic, so there’s no guarantee he’ll be there. (I saw him on my Ele, but not on my Necro when they both passed through the area.)
Maybe they’ll add new dynamic events with giants in the Jan/Feb updates?
Also what do Karka count for? They drop Karka SHELLS and junk item shells called “Spiral Shells” and the usual chunks of crab meat, why don’t they count towards the “Shell Slayer” achievement? I mean, I can go out and kill normal crabs for it I’m just pointing out something I found odd about the Karka and the Shell Slayer achievement. c:
Karka used to count towards their own special title track (“Karka Slayer”) during the November monthly, so it’s likely they’re considered their own species.
It wouldn’t be unique either; Worgs are apparently counted as their own unique creature type despite looking like Wolves.
Actually, Wargs are considered canines (same as wolves, rock dogs, and any other dog).
Also, I’m finding it laughable people are thinking that anything large should count as a kill of the giant species. It’s not “Large Creature Slayer.”
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Funnier to kill them than searching for them ^^
They should minimum the goal a bit or add a few more giants to the game.

I thought so too, but that’s apparently not the case. You can test it yourself by going to Diessa Plateau on a character that hasn’t completed the Daily. Kill a Wolf (plenty around Butcher’s Block), then head NE to find a Warg and kill it too. You’ll notice that your kill variety has gone up by 1 each time. I’m unsure if Rock Dogs count as Wolves/Wargs though; haven’t tested it.
From a lore standpoint though, I agree that Wargs are obviously from the same canine family as wolves and rock dogs.
