Please, make it so my characters can show emotions, like smiles. The face of each of my characters is too neutral / negative. I want them to be more positives.

Also, make it an character-specific option, not an emote.

That has been a problem in character creation for me. I have two characters that should have a pleasant or even merry demeanor and their game faces are all “I’m in a real bad mood, don’t you dare mess with me.” I have a guildie that made a smiling Norn but humans are stuck with dour.

The Fallen Earth MMO had several face settings you could put on your character, which was great, but they were on a timer. It would be nice to be able to /mood smile and then always have that character smiling even after a re-log until you set another mood.

Hmmmmmmmm,
Great point Fror. Maybe an idea to combine this with the failing personality setting. The personality system is under a lot of criticism. Basicly it’s too easy to reach a certain personality and the effect is not noticable enough.

Maybe have 4 facial expressions and the one your expressing depends on your current personality standing.

If no personality peaks out you get a neutral expression.
If your personality peaks significant on Charm you get a happy expression
If your personality peaks significant on dignity you get a proud expression
If your personality peaks significant on ferocity you get a angry face expression

Maybe even add 3 more expressions if your peak 2 personality’s high and one low

So high charm and dignity and low ferocity gives you an (in love) dreamy expression
High dignity and ferocity and low charm gives you a strong face expression
Hi charm and hi ferocity and low dignity gives you a sad facial expresssion to show your inner conflict.

You can build and change your personality over time and by that changing your expression at will.

Arise, opressed of Tyria!

Mercury Ranique: That’s a nice idea! With the possibility to toggle this, I would be really nice, and give a reason to use the personality function.

By the way, there’s only one thing I would change in your suggestion, it’s the “Hi charm and ferocity face”. As it’s known as the scoundrel personality, I would more see a sly smile. Somehow, I really see this personality on a con artist. Dampierre from SoulCalibur is the perfect exemple: http://www.fightersgeneration.com/np6/char/scbd/dampierre-bd3.jpg

Also, make it an character-specific option, not an emote.

They have a system of emotes in Lord of the Rings Online that allowed your character to show different emotions with their face, /mood_angry, /mood_happy, /mood_mischievous, etc.

I think that could work quite well in GW2 also, especially considering how a character’s face can already change with existing emotes like /threaten and some of their facial expressions during the dialogue scenes.

That being said, if these kind of emotes were ever put into the game I’d like them to couple it with the ability to zoom into first-person on my character to save me running behind players, hanging upside down, or any other tricks to try to see player faces.
