Solving 100% completion problem
still a great tool for a spy … no.
Make “holding the flag” hide all moving things in the environment :players and NPCs and create a deserted map for the player while he will be invisible for other players in WvW. Dropping the flag will take the player back to the Mists so he will not abuse it in fight. in this way the flag can be a buy-able item in PvE
personally, i would not use a flag but a piece of equipment which can be equipped for this spacial reason. When equipping it i will take you to the WvW map and when Un-equipping it, it will take you back to PvE
invisibility cloak as a back piece?

Another solution to the problem which has been proposed (and I wish I could remember by whom) is to have separate PvE instances of the WvWvW maps. These instances would have PvE mobs and within them no badges, blueprints, or any other PvP reward would ever be dropped. (Ideally hearts and DEs would be added too.)
- WvWvW would be functionally unchanged
- PvE players would no longer take up a WvWvW slot
- WvWvW would no longer have non-contributing PvE players
- PvE players can visit all POIs, vistas under their own steam, at their own pace
- PvE JP enthusiasts can enjoy the puzzles at their own pace
Note that Legendaries would still require WvWvW participation (for the Gift of Battle)
There would also technically be no reason to award the Gift of Exploration for world completion using this mechanism, since it is only useful for crafting a Legendary anyway. As a middle ground, it would also be possible to e.g. award one for PvE completion and one for WvWvW completion (rather than the two now awarded under the current rules).

Maybe but what good is that? I mean the only real information you can pass on is how many players are in a keep or sm but the enemy players can see you anyway so will be aware an attack may be imminent. More over when a keep or sm is attacked enemy players will rush in to protect it and/or prepare to protect the 2nd wall.
As for camps and towers those are rarely protected anyway so you dont need a spy to know that. And whenever something is attacked everyone in the map knows about it by just looking on the map to see what structures are marked with 2 crossed swords.
Besides the same thing can be done by just staying dead and not respawning and remember that the banner would only work for 10 min and the wielder wont be able to help with the fight.
There is no any "100% completion" problems.
Seafarer’s Rest (EU): Liicher (Engi), Lii Cher (Warrior), Swf (Elem),
Licharr (Guard), Lich Eir (Ranger), Alt Fh (Thief). Lii Cherr (Mesm), S Wf (Necr)
Or just do what everyone else has done, wait for the weekly server update, keep your fingers crossed for the right color and then explore as much as you can.
It took me about 2 months to get the last 4%, because my server just did not get the Blue color.
If ANET were to allow some sort of neutrality/white flag now for WvW exploration, then they might as well just remove it as a requirement.

Simple. you send 10 people out with this invulnerability flag, sit by every gate/pathways and watch and report enemy movements, would be impossible for anyone to do any kind of golem rush or surprise attack. May as well just put enemy markers on the maps so we can see where they are 100% of the time.

Yeah nice of you to remove the rest of what I said so I will have to repeat myself.
You can do the same by simply staying dead in the place where you want to spy – no one can remove your dead body so you can still see and report what the enemy is doing. And you can do that for much longer than 10 min and its easy because you can just use enemy NPC’s to die near the enemy world doorstep. And there is no such thing as surprise attack as the moment you hit a door or wall everyone will know you are attacking anyway so unless they dont care they will counter attack.
So stop pretending to be Zhuge Liang because there is no such thing as refined strategy in wvw. Its just run in with all you got and hope for the best.
a dead body can’t move. soon as the enemy moves far away you are useless. A mobile spy that cannot be killed can basically run with an enemy zerg the entire time across the entire map.
I had to wait almost 3 months to finish my completion in wvwvw ( I dont all day everyday) so you can too :p hehe jus pullin yur leg
I think the op has a point but its a bad solution.
Tis only what you can do for all
No. This could EASILY be exploited to use for spying and a myriad of other things. A better solution would be to remove the WvW vistas/skillpoints/POIs from the completion requirement list.
best, easiest and fairest solution is just rotate starting points on maps in stagnant matches. Most people are sick of always attacking and defending the same parts of EB and this solution would solve that problem also.

What he said…this white flag idea would just completely defeat the whole purpose of WvW exploration being required for world completion. The same goes for a separate, PvE instance of the WvW areas.
or maybe just find a team that does WvWvW and run with them as they take keeps you get the vistas and poi’s?

Yes they know the moment you attack door, but if you have just less than 6 ppl kill all the siege equipment and npc’s and then set up rams they wont know before you already begin ramming the door, by which time it is way too late to defend that door, since first then need to move there so by the time they actually get to defend the door be life half dead already likely and well any siege the put up will be dead (oils and canons and mortars included obv) so they only have their own player attacks
ok this is gunna be a radical idea but what if the POI’s atleast were moved so u only have to touch the door for the POI, would that help at all?
