Some of these ideas most likely have been mentioned before so I apologize for any deja vu. PvP as it stands, Is a very nice improvement compared to Guild Wars 1 [Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, Eye of the North] however, there a few things I feel that are missing to keep peoples attention and interest in this partition of the game.
========
Play Styles
Currently everything in PvP is the same exact kitten thing, 3 points of interest first to 500 points wins… The only difference or variation are the tiles being used and objects to play with… Why not change this up a bit? Some things that would probably be fun to do as well as easy to do:
Capture the Flag
Team of 5-10 people each
First team to 3 scores wins
Time limit of 15 Minutes
Grabbing the flag grants 5 rank points
Killing the flag carrier grants 20 rank points
Scoring the flag grants 30 rank points
Defending the carrier (being in it’s shout circle) grants 5 rank points every 10 seconds.
Achievements:
Can’t Touch This: shut out the other team with a score of 3 : 0
General Flag Mechanics
When carried, all of your skills 1-0 are disabled
When the flag is dropped, it will stay on the spot it is dropped for 10 seconds.
If the flag is not picked back up within 10 seconds, it will re spawn back at its
base of origin.
Free For All
10-30 people battle it out, the person with the most kills at the end of the time limit wins. There will be special conditions for this play style to make it a little more fair and adaptable for Guild Wars 2.
1) In order to be accounted for a kill you must have dealt at least 40% damage
2) Have to have dealt the killing blow
If the above conditions are not meat, you will not get credit for the kill. Instead, if you deal 40% damage or less you will be given an assist which will be used to break any ties at the end of match.
3) Killing pets/ summons/ turrets don’t count as a kill.
Sudden Death
To adapt this play style to Guild Wars 2 and to make things a little more interesting I would suggest adding to each person a limit of 3 revives. Once all 3 Revives are used up and you die you are eliminated from the match. Essentially when this happens, you will be warped to a holding area far above the playing ground so you can watch but yet not interfere.
Large _______ *
Double the player limit of any play style.

*Drops & Awards
Currently nothing drops or is awarded in a manner to be of any real use, in Guild Wars 1 There were Zkeys and rare weapon skins that could be bought and be used in pve.
Why not bring some of that back to pvp? Some mild ideas that I can think of that could draw and attract more people to play and who knows maybe get them hooked.
Currency
Skullets, these would be red coins in a shape of a skull. They have a 25% of being awarded per kill of another player. MF gear would allow for that % to increase.
These Skullets can then be exchanged for goods that have an option to be used strictly in PVE or PVP. All weapons & armour would be in the forms of skins similar to the way that the Hall of Monuments is set up. One tab for PVE, another tab for PVP. They both have the same exact skins, effects, price, everything.
Badges of Honor
If the skullets idea is scrapped, it would be nice to add them as an award at maybe 25% for every player killed. If skullets is used, why not place them in the shop for skullets. The ratio would be 10 Skullets for 5 Badge of Honor. This would ultimately attract players who don’t wish to or simply cant get into wvwvw (long ques) to be able to farm for those Badges. In the end you are killing another player to get the badges so there isn’t any real devalue or anything being done to the badges.
Zaishen Weapons
Special skinned weapons with the options for PVE & PVP.
There would be multiple tiers that go up to lvl 80 (dragon) each tier has their own unique look. These would be bought with Skullets or glory.

Ranger Pets
As you rank up in pvp, your account will unlock special skinned pets for your ranger to use. Their appearance would be similar to the /rank emote. These pets can be used in pvp/pve. They only require you to have that rank unlocked on any one character.
With the exception of Bunny, everything will be unlocked at the same time as their rank animal. E.g.
(To force people to actually get started in pvp bunny is different then actual)
Level 5- Spectral Bunny

just some ideas ^-^
