Id like someone to give me a justifiable explanation of the purpose of this stat and sum quantifiable proof that its beneficial for any purpose at all? To me its a complete farce if it doesnt improve the quality of or frequency of higher tier items why is it useful in any way whatsoever? If it doesnt affect chests or the RNG how or why would you have it in game at all? Ive pushed my over all MF near 200% and havent seen any change in quality of loot or amount. To me it seems like just another farce to stimulate more real money being invested. If all it takes is to dump money into this game to acquire quantity over quality then this definitely isnt the game for me?

Each mob has a loot table.

Each item has a percentage in which it can drop.

Magic Find affects that percentage.

So if, say, a rare has a 2% chance of dropping, Magic Find will boost that to 4%.

While you won’t see an improvement straight away, over a longer period of time you’re bound to see a marginal increase.

I also think Magic Find doesn’t affect chests, but don’t quote me on that.
