It’s a growing trend, intentional griefing by spamming emotes to push all relevant chat out of the chat window. Despite alleged reports from others in map chat, which has achieved nothing so far, it’s become a daily habit for some players.

Apply the current spam suppression filter to emotes so the below isn’t happening anymore

If you disable the notification of emotes in chat you can’t see friends or guildies /wave @ or /salute @. It should be that if you put the offender on ignore the emotes would not be fed to your chat window, but unfortunately that isn’t the case.

Which disables everyone rather than just the people doing it to grief others, with spamming and griefing players violating several ToS points Anet should be handing out suspensions for this behaviour to be consistent with their behaviour policies or more fairly extend the spam suppressor to prevent the obvious abuse of emotes.

Blocking doesn’t stop emotes (or some chat channels) it’s been raised multiple times on the forums for the past several months and nothings happened.
