Guild Wars 2

I have been pondering this for a little bit, there is just one thing I really miss from Guild Wars 1 that is not present in Guild Wars 2. (If you didn’t play Guild Wars 1 go to the wiki and look it up, I’m not going to waist my breath explaining it to you in greater detail then what is needed to make a point)

Whats missing is Special pets
Currently the only special pets that are out there are the Hall of Monument Pets, which are cool. Here’s a potential list of pets based on holidays and festivities used in GW1 and so far in GW2.

Winters Day:
-Jingle Bear (Guild Wars 1 Pet, wiki if you don’t know him)
Same Attributes as Polar Bear,
Special: +5% Gift Find during the winter season, feint sound of bells with each step the jingle bear takes.

Canthan New Year (when the continent becomes available again):
[If you don’t know what Canthan New Year is wiki it]
-Celestial Version of the Animal of the New Year.
~Snakes (2013)
~Horse (2014)
~Sheep (2015)
~Monkey (2016)
~Rooster (2017)
~Dog (2018)
Special for above celestials: +50% chance for a +15 magic find to apply for 30 seconds, or -5% magic find to apply for 10 seconds. Auto re-rolls and applies when time expires. Cosmetically each animal would be made up of stars like the celestial minis in GW1 (wiki it if you don’t know )

Halloween:
-Grand Pumpkin
(Charlie Brown Reference to Great Pumpkin)
Would more or less be a Jack-o lantern that walks on vines
Special: 6% chance to find trick-o-treat bags +6% dmg at night
Only During Halloween will it find tot bags and deal the 6% dmg at night

Talk Like a Pirate Day
(celebrated in gw1)
-Parrot
Special Ability: Taunt, pulls a baddy towards you in confusion for 2 seconds then applies 4 seconds of rage to the baddy.
Cosmetically: Randomly blurts out insults.

Guild Wars 2 Birthday:
-Dragon Egg
How to hatch it:
Have to do something similar to the black moa scavenger hunt in gw1 (wiki it if you don’t know it) and have your order find a way to keep it pure from any elder dragon influence.
Special: Dragons Breath (like fire storm but with a 0.5 larger radius)

I know this is a lot for Rangers, but this would be a nice touch and encourage another form of collection as well as adding a tier of prestige to the game that everyone would be able to try and accomplish. Currently the only prestige are those who played GW1 and those who didn’t when it comes to Rangers.

Icebroad hound probably not since that is strongly associated with a group of villians. To do that would mean you would have to allow thorn hounds and other evil pets into the mix. Keep in mind please, this is for special pets only, those that have a festive or unique tie to a gw event. Rather it be a holiday, lore, or unique event. Not a add more generic thread Explain why you think those 4 deserve something special, what about abilities, or time periods to tie them into?

I think they already exist in the form of Mini’s

There are 5 minis for Wintersday:

• Toy Charr Soldier
• Toy Ventari
• Princess Doll
• Plush Griffin
• Toy Golem

If that’s not what you mean, then nevermind.

Nah I’m not talking about mins, I’m talking about Ranger Pets or “companions” what ever is the current PETA approved term that is being used for GW2.

Your missing 4 minis of your wintersday list btw

I fully support the idea of rarer, more interesting challenge-tame pets. Everyone has the same old stuff and animal companions have the potential of being another way players can show off their achievements.

It would be nice if we could tame things more unique and/or flashy. Even GW1 had exotic creatures that were accessible after a certain level of achievement; i.e. Jingle Bears, Jingle Moas, Black Widow Spiders, Moss Spiders, Pandas, Imperial Phoenixes, Rainbow Phoenixes, & Hounds of Balthazar…

They should take WoW’s rare spawn system into consideration for really special pets. Or maybe for new additions, only make certain higher end, unique pets tameable after certain achievements in your personal story or dungeon completions.

I agree. I was hoping for a long time that they had put special pets in and it was just taking people a while to find them because I had a lot of fun collecting and levelling them in GW1.

They wouldn’t even need to do anything special. In GW1 all the pets were statistically identical (except the pre-Searing black bear which attacked slightly slower) and people still enjoyed getting special ones.
