I’m not sure whether it’s just myself and my partner who feels like this but we find the friends list to be rather stalkerish, especially with the account name such as my MeveM.7913 to be available for everyone to see. The account name is not change-able and my partner took her day to day nick name which is obvious she’s a female. Let’s face it, females get a whole deal of unwanted attention in the gaming community.
Why is it that you can add anyone you fancy to your friends list without any accepting from the other person, especially since in GW2 you add not just that character, you add the account name so you can at all times see what character they are on.
Ontop of this you show up as online and everyone gets a message saying you’ve come online before you’ve even gone on a character. “There’s a invisible mode” Yes, yes there is, but it limits you and it still says you’ve come online and then disappeared in the 5 seconds it takes to change to invisible, even if done in the character screen.
I want to have the choice to be anonymous online. I don’t want everyone to know all my characters, I want to be able to go on another toon if I just want to mess about with SOME of my friends.
I understand the concept behind this and it’s supposed to encourage people to get together, what I don’t like it’s not just offered, it’s produced and rammed down the throat of every single player without us having any option to turn it off.
My major problem with this is as I said at the top, my female partner. There’s only so long you can be bothered to block people. She wants to be able to “hide” on a character if she just wants to chill, but if she goes invisible it limits HER, not the people she want to avoid.
I don’t know, is it just my opinion that it’s far too stalkerish and accessible?
