How about thieves only being able to move at 50% of combat speed whilst in stealth- although to be honest there should be a class or a skill that detects them (I volunteer rangers to have the skill !).

Well, reduced speed for stealth WOULD make whole lot of sense.

People who can argue often offer a good and meaningful conversation about the subject.
People who can’t tend to call the opponent troll, scream something utterly incomprehensible
and finally result to personal insults.

It would make sense lorewise, but mechanically it’ll beunpractical. And any RPG with stealthy characters also has traits or feats or something like that that allows some classes to move at normal speed while sneaking.

GW2 thieves just come with all that stuff in their ‘basic package’ already.

The solution against stealth already exists and it’s quite simple: Point Blanck Aore of Effect Crowd Control, and omnidirectional defenses like blocks, magic shieldings and auras.

Although I agree that there should be skill to detect thieves.
Rangers could have pet skills that alert a stealthed presence – They have really good senses of smell and hearing after all.
Engineers could have a gadget that let’s them see in infrared.
Etc. It has been proven to be a balanced thing in many previous MMORPGS.

No. Thief is already squishy and stealth is the only skill that makes up for it.
Giving the option to render their stealth useless would turn the class into something ridicolous.

Had the stealth been permanent stealth, then yes I could deal with that. However the three second duration you get for stealth normally is time you have make very good use of.

The longest stealth in the game is about 10s from shadow refuge and you have to stand still inside that spot for that duration — easy pickings for AE. The others are all 2~4s, which is barely enough time for a getaway or quick reposition.

With such a short duration for stealth, anything that detects stealth would completely break the mechanic. It shouldn’t even be considered.

If your big issue is with thieves “sneaking” up on you and one-shotting, the issue isn’t with stealth. It’s with the completely unnecessary character culling added to the game for old low-end computers. It’s a detriment for modern comps.

The other problem is that you can keyboard-macro a 15k+ attack sequence for thief. There are other classes that can sometimes achieve a burst that high, but not with a single (macro’d) button.

Here is m reply to anyone who wants to nerf another class. Learn to play your toon. Its that simple. For any game company to create a game then listen to people cry because they dont know how to play the class they have chosen to play so in turn they nerf a class is stupid. World of warcraft has been doing that since that game started and i’m not playing that game anymore because of it. This is a great game but they need to undo the nerfs they have already done and let people learn to play a class. Or they risk being another Wow. And do they really want to become Wow. I would hope not.
