Stop corpse scouting in WvW please!
Yes, totally agree. I see no valid reason why a defeated player should be able to still see the battle field and act as a scout.
They should simply get an automatic respawn timer.
A minute should do.
I would prefer the blank screen option. Depending on how far the battle is, even waiting 5 mins for a rez may save a lot of time…
But I do agree something needs to be done. Free, immortal spy is a bad idea.
They should black out your vision or heavily fade it.
Combine the two suggestions. On death, obscure the screen (though I wouldn’t fade it completely to black) and if they are not rezzed within a minute, have them automatically rezzed @ their base. Should a player start to rez someone, have the counter pause and then reset for another minute, if they are interrupted.
Given that there are no waypoint costs within WvW, the latter should not be an issue.
i think this is working as intended.
not an exploit.
no need to be fixed.
It kind of ruins the FOG OF WAR feeling.
well in some sense characters are not truly dead, just “defeated” so …

Even the one minute timer thingie isn’t good, as you always go around after a siege to rez your peeps to held defend against the next or counter attack. 5min would be reasonable, as that’s the longest it’ll take you to run anywhere anyways.
Make everyone invisible to someone who’s dead. Problem solved.
I’m on the fence about this… on one hand, there’s no way to get rid of the corpse scout. On the other hand, they have a very limited field of view and can’t move. You can use that to your advantage to set up an ambush, but you have to be organized. It’s an effective anti-zerg strategy.
I’m sort of interested now in running some experiments to figure out how to counter the corpse scouts.

Ive been wondering why there are so many corpses laying around our occupied structures in WvW that have not rezed yet…it never clicked to me they are scouting.
Yes Anet, please make it so screen goes black, or they get a fog of war, or they automatically respawn in 1 min.
errr no.
i believe it is a valid tactic.
after all, the characters are not truly “dead” but merely “defeated” in the game.
and “defeated” does not mean “dead” so corpse scouting will stay.
+1 to remove corpse scouting !
Indeed, corpse scouting obviously should not be allowed.
It’s a tactic. If it’s really that good, use it yourself.
Don’t forget it’s a trade off, since this player does not actively participate in the battle. These 10 players spread around the map could make a difference for worse or for better depending on circumstances.
In my guild group we’re usually with 20ish people. If we send out 2 scouts, that means a 10% reduction in fighting power. That’s pretty hefty and could be the difference when clashing with another group. It’s up to the commander to decide whether it’s worth it.

Every tactic should have a possible counter move in tactic heavy scenario like WvWvW.
Just like the enemy can get rid of two live scouts if they spot them, they should also be able to get rid of the dead ones.
The thing about corpse scouting is that it’s not just the other side who can do it.
Thus, it is not an unfair advantage IMO.
