The current rate of inflation for legendary precursors are absolutely insane!

Without giving the specifics, there is a person who has been farming Cursed Shore nonstop for weeks now, and he’s currently resting at around 50g.

He can make around 5g a day, 8g if he’s lucky.

He finally reached the price that The Hunter of Rage was selling at when he first started farming, but today the price multiplied by nearly 500% of its original price!

From 50g to 285g.

In 1 week you can make around 35g. However, in that one week, the price inflates another 100%!

I’m sorry, but the numbers speak for themselves! Legendary precursors are supposed to be expensive to get, but this inflation is insane!

225g and 285g is the current price of The Hunter of Rage. Each day you make around 5g average. 225/5= 45 days of nonstop farming of the SAME mobs!

And think about that. Say we play 10 hours a day to make that 5g. This means you have to dedicate 450 hours of farming just to get that one weapon, when you could get explorer and other legendary weapon recipes in faster time than that!

Those quick-and-dirty calculations are of course disregarding any further inflation.

Please ANET, do something about the inflation of legendry precursors! I understand legendary weapons are supposed to be hard to get, but what about the people who simply want the precursor skins!?

Right now, the inflation is coming from people having an extremely high demand with an extremely low supply. Give it a few weeks and it should start heading downwards. The only issue would be if the cost of production was too high. If cost of production averaged at 300 gold, then ANet would probably need to step in.

I would like to know whether or not ANET is at least keeping an eye on inflation, as the person who is constantly farming Cursed Shore for 10 hours a day is starting to lose hope that he could afford this weapon.

They do have at least one person, John Smith, watching the economy.

Slightly increasing production and making it less randomized might be a good start.

The cost of production IS over 300g right now. I’ve seen youtube videos of 50-100 lvl80 exotic being put into the forge, and at the end the guy would be left with 1 exotic that wouldn’t even sell for 3g+. The rate at which you get a precursor from even 4 lvl80 exotics in forge is significantly less than 1%.

Unless there truly is a static recipe (that some say they have found, but aren’t telling in hopes of making even more money – could be a troll). Is there such recipes? Could an anet employee please confirm this?

Like I posted in another thread: Since dawn and dusk have “cheap” equivalents of the skins, why not add the same for other legendary precursor skins? Such as the Angelic Aegis and Plated Sniper Rifle?
