And when you take the time to write something here, I think you want that other people to understand what your writing about.

There is a difference between chat slang (LOL, ur (wasn’t that the capitol of Babylon?), l8er, etc) and useful abbreviations. I’m perfectly happy typing DR in game rather than Divinity’s Reach, LA instead of Lion’s Arch, etc, etc.

Most RL professions have their own set of TLAs, it’s only natural for people to expand that use into a typing heavy environment.

TLA = Three Letter Acronym for those not in the know.

and you use DR for divinity’s Reach and the next persone wants to say something about antie bots

True, DR for Diminishing Returns.

However it should be clear from context.

I’m perfectly happy typing at well over one-hundred words a minute with brilliant, pretty-good English in a slightly American accent. That doesn’t mean that the average drooling idiot should have to learn or change. In fact, because I’m obviously smart enough to grasp one of the most complex and challenging languages in the world, it stands to reason that I can understand what said idiot is trying to convey.

However, if an idiot, who would probably spell this sentence something like this; hwver if an idot hoo wld pbbly spel ths sntns smthin lyk ths, was to try and learn how to type full words, it would take him significantly longer than myself. Furthermore, during the time he was trying to spell out whole words, the game would keep moving. A breakdown in communication because we expected too much from a man who had the total intellect of a carrot or head of lettuce is not what we want.
