Hey folks.
Any chance of doing something about players getting stuck in combat?
During going through Eternal puzzle an enemy hit me in the caged area (ooer), by mistake it seems as they didn`t carry on.
For the next three minutes neither of us fired anything at each other.
We had no DoTs on either of us obviously, yet for the next three minutes we were stuck in combat.
This happens all the time, such as I`m on walls doing damage. I stand back to not get hit, then I`m stuck in combat until either me or enemy player goes out of range for long enough.
Can you put some sort of timer on that means if we`ve not done/received damage for a set (short) amount of time, we leave combat?
I agree 30 to 40 seconds after no damage and you should be out of combat. The long time keeps enemies who flee in WvW from dropping combat and healing. But it’s small enough so that the situation above doesn’t happen.
This is currently a balance point for PvP and sPvP. What they don’t want happening is players moving just a few feet from the fight and getting their high HP regen to kick in. They require you to go so far away that you’re obviously not contributing, or to wait so long that you have been more of a detriment than an asset to the fight by doing so.
Its tough in WvW when you’re doing something like a jumping puzzle, admittedly, but its just one of those things that can’t be helped too much without allowing people to exploit it during fights.
My opinion of course.
The problem is that it sometimes simply bugs out.
You can sit minutes on top of a vista and can’t click it because the game desides that you are in combat, and the only solution I found for this is log in and out. This hasothing to do with balancing this. It is banlanced as it is right now… It is just bugged sometimes.
Likely you guys tried this, but have you hit Escape? I’ve found that sometimes my character keeps trying to attack something until I hit Escape, even if I un-target it with a ground click.
If that doesn’t work, it’s a very annoying bug that I hope never happens to me.
Yep tried escape, no change.
Ran someone through the place today, their first time, anyway….
Some Thief crept up & hit me where I`m stood with a boulder.
I attacked him, knocked him back down
Then, for the next few minutes I was stuck in combat.
Started recording this & you`ll notice I`ve D/D equipped.
I`m nowhere near any enemy, I couldn`t hit them if I wanted to, yet I`m still stuck in combat.
Even my (bugged range) signet of fire couldn`t reach them.

This still really needs looking into.
Same problem, I ran eternal puzzle, got to the cages where some Necro near the chains above hit me once & then afk`d for gawd knows how long.
Meanwhile I`m stuck in combat, can`t make some of the jumps making this a complete waste of time.
Same with keeps. I can rush in past attackers, run up ramp & around to the front, only to still be in combat & can`t weapon swap unless i go to the back of the keep, stand there for long enough & then hope they`re not already in.
For the dead gods, please put a timer on this, so if any player hasn`t hit another player/mob for a set amount of time, we get out of combat!
