Subscription idea:
Really? Is it so hard to buy the amount of gems you want when you want them?
No need for such hostility. Should be ashamed of yourselves.
Anyways, back on topic, and if you cannot be mature about it, please do not respond.
There could be many people like me, who really won’t use anything on the store, at least not on a regular basis, but still wants to support the developers on a monthly basis. It can be easy to forget to spend $10+ a month when one is not using the store. Having some kind of subscription model for those who want to support the developers and have the convenience of firing and forgetting could be a very good revenue stream. The subscription model would not give any advantages, just something that is convenient.
It doesnt get much more convenient than the 30 secs it takes to buy gems. This sounds like you don’t have a credit card, and want to tell whoever it is that supports you that the game has a subscription fee when really it doesnt so you can buy gems regularly without having to ask each month.

Your assumption is wrong. I’m a married 34 year man, father of a 3 year old, who is the sole provider for my family, and has a wife who is playing Wizard 101, which I am paying $10 a month for her to play. You really think I have a problem needing to ask for a credit card?
Look, there is a lot to be said about making money purely off of convenience, people are willing to spend money on it. There are people like me, who do not use the store regularly, but still want to support the developers on a monthly basis, and would appreciate a convenience to where we can fire and forget, otherwise it would mean we would have to remember to pay $10+ a month through a system that we hardly ever use.
This purely an idea that could potentially increase the revenue stream for Arenanet. Why anybody who like this game and Arenanet would be against an idea that could potentially increase their revenue stream, which then correlates to an even better game for us, is beyond me.
theyre right to mock you… your request is pure laziness. and would also make gw2 seem like a subscription based game which it isnt. even though your idea isnt a subscription and isnt mandatory . the title “gw2 charging subscription fees” is an eye catching headline that will attracted those who already play to complain even if it isnt true and those who might start playing think twice. media is sensationalized and this would be a disaster for them.
Right to mock? Sure, but that is just being childish and immature. Also I highly doubt it would be a disaster. You really can’t spin paying $10 a month for 800 gems on an automatic payment as “Arenanet charging a subscription now” The retail gem cards barely made a blip on the internet, having automatic withdrawal would more then likely be the same.
Also the store is stock full for convenience items, why? because people are willing to pay for convenience, cause convenience actually is a money maker. Not a far stretch to see that having the convenience for automatic withdrawal can also be a money maker for Arenanet.
I disagree with this idea. If you want gems, go buy a card at Best Buy, Amazon, GameStop, etc. You can also buy them online. I just don’t get why you are even asking for this.

This.
not really, make your phone remind you once a month or something if you don’t want to forget it. Adding even this kind of optional subscription fee, then next ppl actually paying it will ask to get some non-gamebreaking benefit, next they want a bit more and before you know it, your “harmless” suggestion have turned the game into pay2win
1) Stop insulting the man.
2) Dude, it takes 15 seconds >.< I understand what you mean to budget it in, but that’s really a fringe request.

Okay fine, I’ll admit I may have been a little overzealous in my assumptions and gone a little too far. I apologize.
In retrospect I suppose it doesn’t seem like such a horrible thing to have a monthly gem subscription set up. The only issue is that its mind numbingly simple to buy gems as it is, the BLTC even remembers your CC details so its like 6 clicks maximum and takes all of 30 seconds so it just seems like alot of dev resource being redirected to save 30 seconds of clicking.
Sorry I don’t see the point? There’s nothing you need to buy monthly. Just buy the gems when you need them. This isn’t the worst idea I’ve ever heard but it’s too specific and largely pointless.
You’ve spent more time creating this thread and responding to every objection brought up then you will ever spend making once a month gem purchases.
The Lost Shores should have stayed lost.
