This is the second time now that I’ve run into a blatant cheater in WvW, guy teleporting around like those bots that we’ve all seen, painfully obvious that he’s cheating.

I right click on his name, then report, and my options are:

Botting
Inappropriate Player Name
Spamming
Verbal Abuse
Scamming
Selling Gold.

For the love of god, FIX THIS. None of these options are adequate for this situation, Let us report people for C H E A T I N G.

What am I supposed to do now? I have his user name, but no way to report him.

Well, report him under botting like everyone did me. I assume this is how I got banned for botting automatically recently, but make sure it’s a hack before you actually report him. If it is an ele or a thief, chances are they can teleport around quite well.

Just make sure because you might be getting an innocent player banned with this stupid system they just set up.

This wasn’t teleportation through game mechanics, this was obvious, cartoonish cheating. No doubt about it.

There is another option, you can email support directly but you’re going to need evidence. The best way for that is to record the gameplay somehow. It’s more hassle, but legitimate.

Recording, emailing support, it’s all too much trouble.

All there needs to be is an option to report for CHEATING, and perhaps even text box to allow for a brief description.

Either way, the current system broken and cheaters are getting away with it because there is no channel to properly report them.

Attach an picture, open your documents folder and supply a screenshot, right click on them and find their user name through the reports menu and detail it in your email. GO HOG WILD.

Perhaps if more people brought it up on the forums, and pointed out why its a problem, and why it needs to be fixed, it may actually be addressed.

Or you could remain quiet, and jump through the pointless hoops that the current broken system forces you to do (emailing their support + uploading pictures) which ensures that nothing will be done to fix it. Not sure why this is an argument or even a debate.

You can report people for spamming, selling gold, and botting by simply right-clicking on their name in game. Cheating should not be treated differently. And yes, sending an email with attachments and everything is a completely unnecessary hurdle/hoop that someone has to jump through.

You’re saying i’m lazy for wanting a more efficient and convenient channel to report cheaters than what the current system currently allows? That’s an absolutely ridiculous copout. If you are incapable of contributing anything to this discussion, please refrain from posting further. The cheaters are already benefiting from an obviously broken report system, they don’t need you to inadvertently stand up for them as well.

Not everything needs to be a debate or argument:

Add a 7th report option for CHEATING (with possibly a short text box to allow for a brief description).

That’s it. Nothing more. Problem solved. The end.

One word: PROOF

An option for ‘cheating’ with a text box would be meaningless. Was he really cheating, or are you setting him up because he did /laugh at you at some point, or maybe you don’t like it because you got killed by him. Maybe he was dancing on your corpse… etc

There can be multiple ways in which a ‘cheating’ option can be abused. That is why you must supply proof. Be it with a screenshot or video combined with the name and 4-digit number or the player (which is visible the moment you click the character and select ‘report’).

So please look at it from that perspective. How would you feel about getting a 72 hour ban just because some people reported you for cheating just because they didn’t like you? There must be definite and irrefutable proof that the character on that account is visibly cheating. And that is why you need to send an email with as much additional information as you can.

I myself always have a video recording program running when playing this game. Mainly because I’d like to make short videos of my character at play. But it’s easy enough to press ‘record’ if you see someone cheating and then send that AVI as an attachment to ArenaNet.
