Anyone else finding that they’re playing exactly the same character that they were at level 20-30 at level 80? Beyond your elite skills there’s nothing to really look forward to in terms of character progression. Sure, we have traits, you say? Great, but I’m still doing the same thing I was before, just now my attacks have a 33% chance to add bleed on a critical, not fun what-so-ever.

A solution to this, or at least a start, would be to add unlockable weapon skills (Not utility or elite skills, but your 1-5 skills!) in trait lines. This would also solve another problem, which is that some weapon sets for certain professions are just superior for certain trait builds. If the trait builds themselves had the appropriate skills as unlockables, you could use whatever weapons you want and still play to the strengths of your build!

I feel same way. There’s just not much depth or complexity to the combat design. Once you learn all of your weapon skills – which can be almost instantly as soon as you start the game – there isn’t much left except a few utility moves on long cool downs and short durations. None of it is particularly exciting.

This game could really benefit from a combat-overhaul. Or at least add some new classes with more intricate designs for players who want more combat options. Perhaps have a system where there are beginner classes for people who like just having a couple of moves to manage – and then an advanced class for players who enjoy a wide assortment of abilities and battle strategies available to them.

Simplified gameplay is not for everyone.

I agree to an extent. I do like then fact that this game has removed endless amounts of skills, which in turn removes a messy chaotic UI and a lot of redundancy. However the downside is that lack of character progression most mmo players are accustomed to. It’s addictive and exciting to get a new awesome class ability. Some way to find a middle ground would be good.

You’re right, sounds like we do want the same thing!

I hope my suggestions aren’t looking too negative. Thank you ArenaNet for making this fantastic game! Although I think there’s definitely certain things I might of done differently, this is still, in my opinion, the best MMO on the market at the moment!
