Suggestion: Please fix eyefinity
They fixed it the Nvidia’s multiple monitor setup a while back…I’m not sure what the hold up is for the AMD version of the same fix….but am eagerly awaiting it.
Either that or let me set FOV on one monitor to be the same as my eyefinity.
It’s time to bring this post back to the top. It’s unknown as to whether this should be categorized as a suggestion when I would classify it as a technical issue.
Now, initially those with SLI setup from nvidia already has their fix and were able to play the game in Surround with proper support and having the HUD elements placed on the center monitor. That’s fine for the time being. But it’s been a long while since that update.
The Lost Shores has came and went. So did the Mad King. I’ve waited until after both Lost Shores and the Thanksgiving weekend to bring this topic up. Now is a good time as ever to give the developers a reminder that they have things left unfinished.
As detailed in the original post, all of these aforementioned issues remain unresolved due to lack of proper Eyefinity support. As an Eyefinity user, I feel that any Eyefinity gamers need to know on what the current status on implementing proper support for Eyefinity. We would like to know how far and when can we expect an update to bring support in line with SLI. Eyefinity gamers are being left out and the longer the problem exists, the longer ArenaNet will appear to play favoritism when it comes to platform support.
I ask that the developers please put Eyefinity support back into the priority list instead of leaving the Eyefinity gamers high and dry. Granted, nothing stops us from still playing in multi-monitor. But all of us know that we’re getting shafted when nvidia and SLI users can see their characters in dialog scenes and have their HUD elements centered.
I want to put my +1 on this. The issues with multiple screens makes the game much less enjoyable.
Just wanted to bump this… Came back to Guild Wars 2 yesterday now that finals are over, and I see that surround has been fixed but not eyefinity. I mean, sure, I can turn my head to look at the minimap..and turn it the other way to see the chat….but that stinks.
I’m still having a problem with cut scenes, character creation, and character select screens being cut off, with latest updates and drivers. Everything else works fine with eyefinity though, which is awesome.
I really wish they would fix this. The world looks great in surround, but it’s just way too awkward to turn my head far left and far right to look at tiny UI elements in the outside corners of the outside monitors. I end up playing in a window or setting it to full screen 1920×1080 so the game is triplicated (is that a word??) which are both less than stellar scenarios. Especially the triplicated (if not it is now!) screen.
Please allow us to position the UI elements in better places while using Eyefinity!
In another thread, a poster suggests that AN are descriminating against ATI Eyefinity and its users in favour of the already fully working Nvidia Surround.
I think that ‘descriminating’ is, maybe, a bit harsh though. It does seem that AN are more of the ‘if we leave the issue long enough it will go away’ point of view though.
We Eyefinity users where promised a fix. We were asked to be patient. We were (by some) chastized for mentioning that there are third party fixes already and when we pointed out that those fixes did nothing to alter game play accept bring it in line with Nvidia Surround by placing UI elements in a more appropriate place and fixing issues where character select and such were blown out of proportion regarding the viewing area we were treated with scorn.
I have not linked to the threads that back this up – a simple search for ‘eyefinity’ is all any one needs to varify my statements.
So! What is the plan AN?
Has support for eyefinity been entirely dropped (and if so why)?
Has support for eyefinity been put aside for the time being – maybe due to AN working on other things?
Though AN made a statement with regard to third party programs and linked that statement from (at least one I think) eyefinity thread, are eyefinity users going to be forced to use third party fixes IF AN cannot, will not or do no implement GW2 eyefinity support and those players want to play in eyefinity with a more than reasonable expectation of the game actually working / looking well with eyefinity?
Will GW2 players that use a third party program that has no effect on gameplay and offers no advantage and then either say so on the forums or ingame or are ‘found out’ in some way suffer infraction or ban?
AN, you guys have made a really great game in GW2 and the game can be played in eyefinity without third party help. The thing is, we eyefinity users still have issues when using the game;
Character select – characters are not sized to one screen and thus they are ‘cut off’ top and bottom. Also ‘UI’ or information is misplaced.
Character creation – similar to character select with character view and ‘UI’ or information display problems.
In game – all works fine except ‘UI’ placement has map, chat and other elements out to the furthest edges of the outer screens (would be much better on centre screen).
Cut scenes – again, as with other issues, displaced.
As an honest gamer who does not cheat or want an unfair adxantage and as an Eyefinity user, it seems to me that the lack of communication from AN on the Eyefinity issue is kind of unhealthy for the reputation of AN. I especially feel this way as we are informed that the Nvidia Surround issues are no more.
A reasonable reply from AN about the likelyhood of an AN GW2 Eyefinity fix and an approximate time frame on this (does not need to be definate) would be, I think a good thing. Even if AN where to state that eyefinity will not get official support, we gamers using Efinity would at least know ‘where we stand’.
