Suggestion: Profession change item
Truthfully? That sounds like a terrible idea. Such an item never existed in the previous Guild Wars and with good reason. The game is built upon the idea of growing with and understanding your profession, which is only furthered by the ability to instantly test the full capacity of each profession in spvp or Heart of the Mist. If you find that you are too lazy to remake another character, because there is no other word to describe this scenario (lazy), then you should probably be looking for another game. If you did not go to lengths to fully test your particular character’s profession and how well you mesh with it, then that is entirely on you for not using everything at your disposal allowing you to do so; functions intended to prevent instances such as this.
Though I would not object to a profession changer, there are quick ways to level you alts. Crafting being one of the fastest (if you have the coin). I play 3 hours a day on average and I have levelled up and almost fully equipped with exotics, 3 professions and am working on 3 more. WvW is quite good for leveling, so long as you stay where the action is and where a lot of events trigger.
Two of my level 80’s have only done 35-40% world complete, due to leveling them via crafting. Now I just take them into WvW, and swap characters when I fancy a change. Once I have leveled my necro to 80, I will probably take a break from leveling (as I do not find it enjoyable) and will just play around in WvW and help friends in PvE.
As to the Necro, what is it you do not like? They seem like a lot of fun to me. Perhaps you just need to find a build that suits your playstyle?
Anyway, it’s a nice idea but I do not think it will be implemented.
People just love to make blind sugestions…
On any moment did you noticed that most of your skills and storyline is about your profession? And your weapons skills? And even can have pet, or minions or ilusions?
Did you in any moment think it is an easy thing to do? It will deal with lots of line of code inflating more and more the server program, leading to more and more bugs even in future developments. Change class, change professions, all of this is tied, no, not tied, it´s FUSED to your character, it´s not a single thing to do, and like someone tells me I don´t have faith in ANET, I have faith but I know how kitten a thing will be when we need to keep correcting bugs and more bugs just to make LAZY people happy, those same people that will go to other games because they say “bah, lots of bugs in this kitten game, let´s look a new shinie”.
NO, they have to use KISS style of programming, KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID. Less programming code, less bugs.

@ the reroll argument:
I don’t have time nor desire to do it, it isn’t fun. I also have 230k accumulated karma, 3 full item sets and I can’t see myself farming it all over.
@ what I don’t like:
It just got boring. After hundreds of hours in PvP and PvE I can’t even find enjoyable ways to play my necro. No cool movement skills, no dynamics, just stale play style. Can’t even find myself a goal in Legendary items since necro has poor choice of weapons.
I basically know the profession in and out and there is nothing left.
As I said, I’m not going to play this boring PvE all over again.
I just love when people just let his mask drop…
“I want the lazy way, I got bored and want a new char withou the problem to begin a new, so I can start with lots of things. And if it can bug the game, kitten off, I don´t care, I have money to pay for other games if this simple bugs to a unusable game…”
You don’t know my situation. You can disagree, but unless you have something constructive to post, go away.

Don’t know what to tell you dude. Somehow you found the time and effort to get a character maxed and geared only to find that you don’t really care for it. You might find that if you actually enjoy another class this might not feel like such a chore as it does a quest to perfect a profession you truly enjoy.

Depending on what funds you have saved up, it is entirely possible to level character without going through the “boring PvE all over again.” Like someone just suggested, you can always level another character entirely through crafting, and obtain master crafter in the process. If it comes down to you just being bored of the game, a profession changing item isn’t going to fix that.
Fair enough about rerolling, I can understand that. For me I found it quite easy to reroll and max out a couple of alts, but not everyone can or wants to do that. Like I say, I would not be opposed to your idea, I just do not feel it would be added. I was merely trying to show that it is relatively easy to reroll, as that is your only real option if you want to play another profession.
This is never going to happen. Personally, I wouldn’t mind a race change option (I wouldn’t personally buy one, I just don’t have a problem with it). If you’re really that concerned with personal story, there are a lot of ways you could get around that.
One example would be, only allow players who have completed their personal story to use this feature (probably an in-game item bought with gems). Then, it could reset their personal story and fix it so they don’t get any completion rewards.
Or it could not require you to have completed your story, but just have it reset it and grant no rewards until you get to an equivalent part as where you were before.
In either case, I don’t see this happening anytime this year. In fact, I think it’s very likely they will never implement something like this. And even if they do change their minds and decide to put a race change into the game, it probably won’t be for a few years anyway, after they’ve already released an expansion or two. I just can’t see this being a very high priority for them, and even though you can get around the whole personal story problem, I’m sure it would require a bit more work to get it working properly.
EDIT: Sorry if my post was a bit confusing. I do understand that the OP was talking about a Profession Change feature. However, I’m certain they will never put such a feature into the game, even for gems. So I decided to talk about something a bit more realistic. Even though they said they’re not going to add a race change feature, I think it is MUCH more plausible than them EVER adding a profession change option.

…all of this is tied, no, not tied, it´s FUSED to your character
While I’m 100% against a profession-change item, I don’t think that one’s profession is as tied to your character’s story as you make it seem. There’s basically just the one question you have to answer at the beginning, which determines a piece of gear you start out with — or in the case of the ranger, the pet. Aside from that, I don’t recall any points in the personal story where anyone so much as acknowledges my class whatsoever. There are no “ranger” or “guardian” chapters which only those specific classes must complete. Every race can be every class, and even which Order you chose isn’t necessarily impacted by your class.
Granted, there would be other complications to the change, besides story. Your skills would actually be the simplest things to fix — basically, your action bar would be cleared. You would have no skills accessible, but you’d retain an amount of skill points appropriate to your level. There is the problem of optional skill points, though, especially if you’re 80 and above. Not sure how it would refund those, if any.
With respect to weapons and gear, you would potentially have to be naked from the moment you re-rolled your character, as there’s no guarantee your new class could equip your old gear. I guess whatever you had equipped at the time would be taken off, and mailed to you so you have the option to use/salvage/sell what you can.
Keep in mind, if you get a new weapon that you’ve never equipped before, you may not start out with any weapon skills for it for keys 2-5. Although, maybe they start you out with all the weapon skills, as one of the perks for the profession change. That wouldn’t exactly be game-breaking.
Your traits would be reset, but that’s obviously no problem because anyone can do that at any point.
It would be an awkward and imperfect process, but it could potentially be do-able with some degree of competence. That said, I don’t see it being a good use of ArenaNet’s resources to cater to people who essentially want to make a new character and then pay to have it leveled back to where they were. This is why people roll alts, and if you want to have a new profession to play with, you’re going to have to do the “work” to get back to max level. Part of the reason there is leveling in MMOs is for you to learn your class gradually, with levels of complexity layering themselves over time. Having all your skills given to you at once is not going to help you learn them.
Besides, if you can’t enjoy playing the actual game and leveling a new character, what makes you think you would enjoy playing them at 80?
