I look at all the nifty wardrobe items in the cs, and think I’ll grab that. Then I see that it’s only for in town, not usable in combat, blah blah blah. So I change my mind, and don’t bother with the purchase.

So why not allow wardrobe items to be displayed at all times? Why such a silly restriction?

Who knows. Because they had a real moneymaker with the system in Guild Wars 1 where you could wear the costume over your armor in combat and you didn’t have to store them in our inventory, an NPC held them for you.

They can’t argue that wearing costumes in combat will break immersion when they have people with bows that shoot unicorns with the arenanet logo on them.

I would like to see us able to wear town clothes in PvE zones and dungeons. I think it would greatly add to the appeal of buying the items and make them more popular.

I can see not allowing town clothes to be worn in WvW and sPvP because you need to be able to quickly identify the heavy armor professions vs the cloth wearers. But I would think it would be easy to disable town clothes in WvW while still allowing it in PvE zones.

While simply don’t understand the anti-pvp logick (last time I played everyone ran in packs and it was just a flashy light show with no way to tell heavy armor types until they ran up and smacked me), if it’d help move this along to other parts of the game, I’d be willing to compromise.
