First of all, everyone knows that whoever joins random matches are going to always pick the winning side, and this creates a larger disparity in the match making it severely difficult for the losing side to make a comeback.

My suggestion is to make the winning team unable to be joined if both sides are even in teams. This makes it so people who join the match have no alternative than to join the losing team.

The intent of this change is to make it so the losing side at least has one person above the winning side or both sides are equal. The reasoning is that in a game of capturing points, the amount of players count. If the winning side has more players, then it has more players that are available to capture points and increase the gap in score. I realize this is not an optimum fix, but it would at least prevent people from bandwagoning onto the winning team if spots become available.

I do recognize that there is a downside to this in that close matches will favor the current loser, but close matches are less likely to have large point gaps which leaves players more satisfied with the match.

Example of this in action: Blue team has 5 players and Red team has 5. Blue team is currently winning, and is unable to be joined when new players join the match. This means the person has to join the Red team.

Now that the Red team count is slightly higher, they are now doing much better in the match and are now currently the winners.

Someone on the red teams house is on fire, and has to leave the match.

This leaves 5 players on the blue team and 5 players on red.

Because red is currently winning, the next player that joins has no option but to select blue because red is currently winning.

In conclusion, this change would allow the losing team more resources in terms of players so that the losing team has a chance of increasing their points instead of being severely outdone by the opponent.
