Add achievements like “Complete 50 Events in Queensdale” for each map.
That should add up to a lot of achievement points and it is pretty good to keep you playing (especially your alts) in every zones over Tyria. Currently 100% map completion only requires you to finish Renown Hearts and you can simply skip all events (like many people do because it takes a lot of time and some of them are just too hard to solo or bugged).

I don’t think Events should figure in what’s required for map completion. By their nature they are dynamic; they change, they fail, they start new ones, they restart. How can you “complete” something that’s ever changing?

However, I agree that – even with the dynamic leveling – lower level zones get abandoned. A monthly or daily achievement encouraging to help in lower level zones would probably be a big help without requiring Events as part of world completion.

Also, instead of rising the cost of Waypoints across the entire map as you level, if the Waypoints in lower level zones were still quite cheap compared to the rest it would be an incentive for higher level character to stick around.

Since they have events that “makes changes to the world” there should be dynamic events in the lower zones where if you ignore them then situations will become worse and there will be another dynamic event where you would need to go to that zone and “cleanse” it. Ex:

1. An event starts in Queensdale where bandits are taking over villages and major sites to try to get closer to invading Divinity Reach.
2. If players join the event, they can be able to push the bandits back to their camp and possibly fight the bandit leader champion that gave them the command.
3. If ignored it will create havoc and the Queensdale map will be overrun with bandits, which will start a new event where players will need to go to each major site and get rid of the bandits, destroy their equipments, etc.

I think they should do away with map completion all together. It’s the single worst function in the game, for many of the above reasons already stated. Remove that and people would take their time more and perhaps help out and enjoy themselves.

Additionally, I like Kantharr’s idea.
Nitross’s idea about waypoints is a good one too.

I think it could be its own achievement, separate from Map Completion.

This is pretty vague, but I really liked what GW had going with Zaishen (mission/bounty/etc) quests. It really got people to revisit old areas; I know I did nearly every single one of them, and was really glad when one that I wanted to do, but had a hard time getting a group for, came up.
I don’t know how that could be implemented in GW2, really, beyond putting the dungeons on a daily rotation, with some worthwhile rewards for completing the dungeon on its “day”; it would work for world bosses too, I suppose – people would have to do event chains to get the bosses to spawn as well.
