Hello i have some ideas that i belive will improve the amount of players that participate in WvW and also bring a sense of world and guild loyalty and pride in WvW which benefits existing players.

  • Gaurd Titles: This first suggestion is imo a simple change to add to the game, basically instead of just saying “Veteran Guard” it would either say “Veteran Guard” with the title (similar to players titles) being the name of the guild that claims the territory where the guard exists, OR it would say “Veteran Guard[GUILD TAG]”. I think adding something like this will really make WvW feel more meaningful to guilds rather then just having a banner icon hanging, because, let’s face it, nobody really knows what guild is claiming a territory because nobody really recognises others guilds emblems.
  • Guild Bonuses: For this idea i think that in order to incentivise the more PvE centric guilds to come and participate in WvW there should be bonuses for controlling territory in WvW and those bonuses should either scale with the node itself (i.e. larger bonus for claiming Stonemist, and a smaller but still good bonus for claiming a tower or camp) OR the bonus should grow over time the longer you control your territory.
    As for the actual bonus that a guild would recieve, i am not sure but you guys at Anet are creative and i believe you could think of something, I would expect you to do something like more EXP, or MF, but i think what would REALLY be a good idea would be something like more % damage the longer you control a node in wvw, but thats just my opinion so whatever you do is fine just as long as there is some kind of bonus to make the PvE guys more inclined to play.
  • Guild Alerts: I’ll be honest you guys might already have this implemented but im in a predominantly PvE guild (i think im the only one that does WvW) so if it is implemented i have never seen it. The idea is if you own some territory in WvW but you happen to be at the trading post or slaying some dragon out in the world and suddenly your area in WvW starts getting attacked there will be a guild wide chat notice and possibly a sound effect saying something like, “Your guild’s tower Kloven Gully is under attack! There are n number of <server name> players in the area!”. What this will do is basically give you and your guild time (all be it a small window" to rally the troops and react to this threat to your tower.

All in all I think these ideas are a really good start to bringing a sense of ownership to the meta game of WvW. Right now there is a feeling of World(server) ownership in WvW but there really isn’t a feeling that guilds are important aside from the emblem which just isn’t enough IMO. Please let me know what you think of these ideas.
