Supporting The Military
While this seems nice for you, I’d request an option to disable this for myself (if it was implemented).
GW2 is an international game. The rules of international games is to try to keep their hands off of national things (exc historic things and some exceptions). I don’t dislike any nation in particular, but if they’d implement US military suits, they’d need to implement military suits of every nation. And this wouldn’t really do any good.
I support a violent-free world. (Proud aikidoka)
They could simply be named “Camouflage” to avoid any international drama due to other military forces around the world and the self-dyeing if they are a skin would allow anyone who wanted to show their support to dye the armor to whatever they liked. If the pattern is an issue it could obviously be altered slightly as to not identically represent any actual military force.
While it may resemble such it could obviously have it’s own GW2 fantasy look to it. All I’m really asking for is for some armor with a camo dye pattern or a camo dye in general. Not for an exact representation of real life military armor.
Camo dye, both sand, forrest and snow would be something nice to have in PVE.
Here’s the thing though – I suspect a lot of people play GW2 (including myself) to get away from real world issues/events, not to be further immersed by them. I’d rather not see real-world analogues (camo uniforms, etc) in a fantasy game such as this.

Same here.
There are dyes of all shades in the game. I would recommend getting gear with at least 3 color slots per piece, maybe a bit patchy looking, and play with the colorations for effects. Get a bit creative, I’ve seen great cosplays ingame. The dyes should be dirt cheap on the TP too, since few people like these muddy ugly colors.

As far as immersion goes I think a charr fighting with heavy machinery would look good in brown camo.
Dyes aside, I just wanted to say that your wife joining the Navy is definitely something to be proud of. I was in the US Army for awhile, before getting a medical discharge while at training. I am looking into going back in as an officer though. Make sure you keep in touch with her, as that’s always a morale booster. I’m sure she’s a tough woman, and will make it through just fine. Thank her for her commitment and sacrifice to serve.
