First of all, I realize that there are previous topics covering this, and even one on the first page; I am bringing this up in a manner that was not done in that thread. I would appreciate if this thread were not merged, just to be buried into another.
I have looked at the prices for T2 Cultural Armor after the price update. Those aren’t all that bad. It’s expensive for the level, as it should be, because it forces you to make choices with your money and where you will invest it. However I feel that asking people to pump out 30g for a chest piece at level 80 is a little much, at least given the current state of the game, and the economy. Let’s look at a few things for a moment.
Cultural Armor (and Order Armors, but those are much cheaper), are meant to be somewhat-easily obtainable armor for fresh level 80 characters; a sort of stepping stone between karma gear that is earned from 70-80, and exotic/dungeon gear. However, given the recent “off the deep end” changes to prices, most of the T3 Cultural Armor is just not cost effective. Do they have sweet skins? Some of them do, definitely. But there is easier armor to obtain, that looks just as good. So I feel as though that isn’t a valid argument. I buy the armor to use it, not just for a sweet skin to use later.
Currently on the Trading Post, I can go buy any piece of exotic gear for about 4g. I could likely get it for even cheaper if I have a friend who is willing to take time out of his day to craft it for me if I gather or buy all of the materials.
I realize that quite a bit of the price changes, for Cultural, Order, and the level 80 event armors had to do with players exploiting the game via systems in the game. However, I feel as though some of these changes are just a tad too harsh. I’m not asking for these pieces to be so easy to obtain that a fresh level 80 character can waltz into his races’ capital right after attaining 80, and leave with a fresh set of T3 cultural armor. But maybe a reexamination could do some good.
15g seems more reasonable for a T3 chest piece, 12-10g for the leg and shoulder pieces, and about 8g for the boots and gloves. Still difficult to obtain, and forcing players to make decisions with their money, and still likely keeping people away from spending that much gold just to exploit the system.
Thank you for taking the time to read this suggestion.
