Talking Animation
Hm… I like this idea.
I actually like the idea, but it would probably hit a lot of roadblocks.
Like proper speech recognition.

the way other games do it.
They look at the punctuation on your sentence.
If theres no punctuation or its ended with a period, its just a normal gesture. (already inside the game if you look at npcs)
If theres an exclaimation mark at the end, they do a shout gesture (Already inside the game, warriors shout)
If theres a question mark at the end, they do a shrug. (Already inside game, remember mad king says and the floating griswirl)
Lip flap doesnt need to mimic whats actually being written, they just need to flap your lips.
Sentence length just determines how long your lips flap.

I like this idea and I think it could be one of the “little things” that A-net adds to their games to make it amazing!
But do you really shrug every time you ask a question? shrugs
The same movements done by the same people could start to get a little dry and repetitive and make the game look ugly.

It wont be activated if you talk on mapchat.
Only on local chat, thats how they curb the repetitiveness.
Theres also more than one version of “casual” talking animations, they could randomize it to curb repetitiveness.
And who really asks questions all the time Oo
Unless we’re playing Questions Only.
