Target Range Indicator for the UI
I agree. As it is, we have the little red bars under each skill to let us know if we’re in range. Which would be enough if there weren’t skills that varied depending on range. What we need is a simple vision cue to illustrate at which range level we’re at for those range-dependent skills.
My idea:
On skills like Ranger longbow auto with 3 levels of range, change the red bar range indicator to appear in 3 segments. If all 3 appear, you’re out of range (as usual). If 2/3 appear, you’re at the first level of acceptible range. If 1/3 appear, you’re at the 2nd level of acceptible range. If no bar appears, you’re at the innermost range of the skill. So a longbow ranger would strive to keep 2/3 bars up, since max damage is attained at the farthest range of the skill.
Engi blunderbuss, which has 2 levels of range, would have a bar with 2 segments. Since that skill deals more damage the closer you are, they’d strive to have no bars, since that would indicate the innermost range.
