Not sure if this is the right forum for this but couldn’t find anywhere else. For about the last week I have noticed a growing number of teleport farming bots. The bot appears next to a resource, harvests it and instantly vanaishes. This is happening all over the game. I have just been observing it outside of Blackpowders Tomb in Dredgehaunt cliffs. I cannot report the bots because they do not stay on screen long enough to get the report in. Suggest a return of the /report <name> command from GW1!

this has been a reported issue for several months.

There has yet to be any solution to this issue. Since it is hard to get a good lock on these scumbags when they do this stuff.

I do wish Anet would give us an update on this issue though

Not only are they difficult to catch but you can’t be entirely sure that they are bots. I have heard of players that claim to park toons on nodes to farm them. After they gather, they switch toons and repeat I assume. However, I have a hard time believing this excuse and would assume it is something made up by a teleport gatherer in the first place. Anyway, you can’t be entirely sure.

Uhm, few pointers

  • you can’t teleport from node to node.
  • WPing all the time can get expensive, nullifying profit from farming

It’s more likely that some players just log in to their harvest toons. Say you got 5h Ori node, you can harvest it 3 times a day. You don’t want to spend an hour running around every other node because harvesting that one takes 3 minutes total per day for 15 Ori.

Why did you assume they were bots in the first place?

People who can argue often offer a good and meaningful conversation about the subject.
People who can’t tend to call the opponent troll, scream something utterly incomprehensible
and finally result to personal insults.

They also appear exactly on the node, not next to it. ArenaNet should be adding server-side checks for aberrant movement, if they haven’t already, as relying on player-reports isn’t possible with these cheats.

If they really are teleporting directly to each node, there seems to be a security issue that needs fixing. I’ve never ran cross this my self, anyone got it on video?

Why did you assume they were bots in the first place?

A little research via google will uncover a variety of “hacks” one of which will port a user from node to node and is limited only by the number of coordinates listed. You will see it easily in game if you are near several nodes. You will see the hacker blink between those 3 nodes without running to them.

Anet needs to put in a tracker that will count the time between node harvests to determine which ones are possible and which are not.

From my research of what you can and can’t do, the “teleport” is utilizing the fact that your coordinates (x,y,z) are stored in the client and not checked against the server often enough.

When a person appears on a node, they have already set their x,y coordinate correctly, but they are either really high in the sky, or really deep underground. Being that high in the sky or deep underground, no one is able to see them, and there is no collision with objects allowing pathing algorithms to make it look like they are actually running around. Once they get to directly above or below a node, they modify their z coordinate and appear right on it to harvest.

I may be completely off-base, but this is what I have seen is possible based on my findings.

the solution to the regular bots was to add DR, so i can conclude that the solution to farmbots will be to nerf nodes.

everybody wins! oh wait no the player loses and bots don’t care because they aren’t people. totally solid system.

Bristleback can’t hit anything? Let’s fix the HP bug instead.
