Had an idea last night while sitting in Lion’s Arch.

With the temples in Orr wouldn’t it be helpful if we got a world buff for the duration of having the temples captured? It would get more people into clearing the temples and would provide the game with some well deserved content.

Statue of Grenth: Condition Damage and Duration
Statue of Dwayna: Healing and Vitality
Statue of Balthazar: Toughness and Power
Statue of Lyssa: Boon Duration and Magic Find
Statue of Kormir: Critical Chance and Class Skill (e.g Mesmer shatter skill recharge rate)
Statue of Melandru: Could possibly increase movement speed and something else (haven’t given it that much thought)

I thought this was a good idea and would give some content for people to do :P

Any thoughts?

I would totally see it having an impact (for the best) in the game. Currently we only have WvW that gives world bonuses, but it would be great if PvE players could have a similar impact in the world. The bonuses could be decided by Anet, but the idea is great!

not a bad idea but however i remember gw1 having the stachues all over the land and you could go up to the avitars if the world has favor. but i beleave the priroy dosnt have that much knowledge and skill. however who knows maybe they are able to pull off some skills.

It would be awesome. It would mean people would actually have a reason to free the temples.

I would also suggest that they add this to the rewards system, say a server wide increase in the types of drops depending on which temple is freed. It would improve the rewards system and make it even more likely that temples be freed because who doesn’t like getting loot or more gold?

I think Melandru should be toughness and something else(not movement speed,that doesn’t really fit with a nature and earth goddess),and Balthazar should be power and crit damage.
It would be slightly more thematic than having Balthazar give toughness,although for the sake of him being the patron god of warriors it could make sense.

Either way,this would be awesome for the game,and with a bit of tweaking might give a nice bit of more hardcore content:
Perhaps the longer a temple is held,the higher the buffs become (to a cap of course) but the harder the events for defending it become as well,until it’s taken and it resets?
So what would happen is that the events would become so hard that organized guilds would need to use strategy just to hold the temples,with random players standing no chance unless they coordinate (with new mechanics and AI for the mobs of course,not simply as they are now with stat bonuses but specific mechanics,special attacks that need to be reacted to as a group,even players dedicated just to removing conditions on the group,etc).

This would be spectacular,yes please!
