I would like the craftability of the Crossing to return to what it was before this year’s Halloween update. Please, let me explain:
-The new recipe is extremely difficult to fulfill and extremely expensive.
-10,000 Candy Corn is reasonably easy to acquire thanks to the new Candy Corn
node (thanks for that, I love it!) & some patience. If I were to purchase candy corn,
however, 4 stacks of 250 is 5.9 g, making 10 Cobs purchased through this method 59
g. Cobs themselves are 6.7 g, so 67 g just to purchase them outright.
-10,000 Nougat is ridiculously hard to come by and very expensive. I ran around in
the labyrinth for over 2 hours the other day and got TWO. At the time I’m typing
this, Tyria’s Best Nougats are 9.667 g while buying 4 stacks of 250 regular nougats
equals over 10 g. It’s almost 100 g JUST for the nougats.
-You still have to buy 40 bottles of Elonian Wine at 40 silver each, for a total of 16 g.
-Superior Sigils of the night are 1.49 g each, and you need 20 of these for a total of
29.8 g.
-This is a grand total of around 205 g to purchase items to craft an exotic weapon,
not to mention 100 mystic coins and 50 skill points for an Eldritch scroll.
-This is an exotic weapon. People have the ability to make ascended staffs now, so
you are paying this for the skin only. I have to say, it is an awesome skin, but you’re
spending all this time/money on a skin.
-To purchase this weapon outright from the Black Lion Trading Post it costs 199.33
g. Therefore, it’s actually cheaper to purchase from the Trading Post than to craft it.
I, for one, want to feel like achieved an accomplishment if I craft this weapon. To
purchase it for cheaper, well, “cheapens” the experience. However, I don’t want to
feel like I’ve been set up to fail because I don’t play the game 24/7 and can’t earn the
kind of gold I need to purchase OR craft something I want.
-Legendary weapons don’t change their recipe. Players are working hard to earn these
awesome items. They are working a little at a time to earn each piece as they go. If
you changed the recipes on your players there would be an outrage at the things
already earned and accomplished that were no longer relevant. I personally have
been working slowly over the past year to acquire the things I need for the old recipe
of The Crossing, and now all the Lodestones and Knowledge Crystals I’ve worked for &
purchased are pointless.
-The Crossing was difficult enough to earn before the change, but at least it was
possible without having to play and grind constantly within a certain amount of
time. It is now based on things that are seasonal and you only have a certain amount
of time to acquire before they’re gone until next year. There is a limited supply, which
makes the prices skyrocket even higher after the Halloween event is over.
-Last year this staff was a possible mob drop, but not this year.
-Legendary weapons and their skins are wonderful. They are difficult to acquire, you
have to work hard, and you can obtain what you need slowly over time. You get a
real sense of accomplishment after crafting it. An exotic weapon shouldn’t be harder
to craft from a recipe than a legendary weapon. There is even a precursor cheaper
than this staff!
-While I love this game, I also have a family, a household to run and a full-time job. I,
and many other players, don’t have the time to sit and earn that amount of gold. I’ve
been playing since the beginning, and have probably earned/spent around 100-150 g
since I’ve started. That’s it. And I play almost every night after the kids are in the bed,
do dungeons, champ runs, storyline, wvw, and am active in my guild.
-Unless I wanted to abandon my life, I do not feel I can make this recipe. I do feel I
could eventually make a legendary. This is not ok! I’m not trying to be fatalistic, or a
whiner, but I’ve run over every option in my head and cannot possibly perceive a way
to accomplish this without illegally purchasing in game gold with real money, which I
would never do. Besides, if I’m going to spend this kind of gold on a weapon, why
wouldn’t I just save up for my Legendary precursor instead?
