I think the lfg tool in “the Game that shall not be named” worked very well once worked out the major kinks in it. It was an amazingly better alternative to sitting a city all day spamming your various LFG macros. I frankly never saw a downside to it; people never left the cities anyway except to go to dungeon entrances or farm, the global lfg channel was a spam disaster, people didn’t run certain dungeons after a period of time, finding groups for dungeons at low levels was nearly impossible once the game had been out for more than 6 months, and worst of all you had to put up with jerks in your group because booting them meant spamming the city channels again for a minimum of 30 minutes. Dungeon runs were just an awful, tortuous experience all around prior to the lfg tool.
I’m curious to know though, what were the “many bad things” you heard that it did?
I heard? I witnessed more like.
Call me old fashioned, but i played for the core game, And then an expansion without it…and i very rarely had to “sit around in a city for hours”
You say they were awful and tortuous prior to the lfg tool, i found them ironically just that after the tool.
I’m guessing that, And no offence meant here, you were a tank or healer? Because i often signed as a dps (Sometimes tank/healer, i confess) And what did you say…“spamming the city channels again for 30 mins” Well, Queues as a dps took 45 mins sometimes even WITH the lfg tool, but i digress (In fairness, I HAVE just got back from the pub, So bear with me) but the thing is, When people could just sign up to it, and never see/hear from you again, they acted like kitten, While if they were stuck on your server, they’d act with a little decorum, so they’d be INVITED BACK.
And there’s the solution. You find a good group, you add them, you ask them back for future runs, No more sitting outside the dungeon spamming /s or in citys or map chat, or any of that.
Worst case scenario, You join a pve guild in gw2, seeing as well..this IS the pve. You join a guild for raiding in the nameless game, Join one for explorables here.#
Disclaimer; Nothing said here was intended as a personal jab, Or as “snide/Snarky”, Purely my personal opinion.
Edit; Upon reading through my post, I have to say…after finally discovering the truth behind “kitten”, I love anet. They’ll do the right thing about this.
or you could… I dunno join a GUILD that has people of similar interests and then you’ll have a whole pool of (sociable) people to do things and have fun with.
The game is called GUILD wars 2 for a reason.
Also I agree with everyone else, the LFG tool makes everyone a bunch of horrible trolls typically and once the tool is in normal non-troll people like me get the short end because everyone will take the path of least resistance (the tool) and then the whole game community will turn sour.
If you want easy mode and bad community, well there’s a game for that. But don’t try to bring that garbage in this game and ruin it for everyone else.

optional feature is optional?
if YOU are lucky enough to have a guild of ppl to do things with EVERY TIME you happen to want to do them, why do you care if ppl you will NEVER GROUP WITH use an auto-grouping feature that you NEVER NEED TO USE?
