Popping my two cents in on what I’d like to see added/changed to the game. I absolutely love costumes and such for my characters and got excited when I saw some of the cash shop skins/gear. That excitement ended however when I saw that some items were for town RP clothes and some were one time use skins. When gear flux is constant there’s no point in me spending money only to have an item replaced again and the whole town vs usable combat gear separation feels odd to me.

My suggestion thus is a complete change to the wardrobe system. The Mystic Wardrobe would be an account (preferably) wide wardrobe system that your gem store item purchases would go into. All gem store purchases would be permanent skins that would become active in your wardrobe upon purchase. You would then be able to change the displayed visual wardrobe for both your combat & town gear at will. Transmog cash shop items could be changed to permanently add world-found gear to your wardrobe (armor restrictions still applying to be made in use by characters).

I think this would add much more value to the visual cash shop items and users would be much more willing to pick them up to add them to their wardrobe. It also gets rid of the weird divide between the town clothes and combat skins.

Not sure what this means, otherwise I agree.

The transmutation stones are what I was referring to. Instead of binding the look of an item with the stats of another it would add the item to the wardrobe.

So if I understand correctly, you want the gem store skins (once purchased) to be added into a library similar to what we now have for HoM and Achievements?

I think that makes sense. It would save bank space, and it’d make those 800 gem price tags easier to justify if the skins were reproducible on an account basis.

My only additional request would be that it would also take effect retroactively for any player who had already purchased the skins.

Yes, both gem store and gear that transmutation stones are added to a wardrobe library. A wardrobe interface would have to be designed to allow people to scroll through all the various items they’ve collected, an ability to make custom sets that you can call up and assign those to combat and town clothes. For those who already purchased the skin, I guess that would depend on the purchase data the GW2 team has available to run through and activate those items. Perhaps the dye system could be wedged in to enhance specific custom sets and a new gem store item added to unlock additional slots.

Anet doesn’t control the Gem store. Just the content. Take it up with NCsoft. Plus, if they were to implement this, they would lose major profit which, in turn, would cut back on any new content being released.

I don’t know how Anet & NCsofts arrangement works, but they’ve added in some permanent items to the gem store since I was last playing. I’m not sure either of us could say what kind of profit they would be losing without the data on repeat cosmetic gear purchases. Personally I will not purchase anything cosmetic that is not a permanent addition to my account. This suggestion came from me constantly looking over all the fun stuff that I’d love to have for my characters, but I never end up buying because they’re either temporary (one-use) or they’re town only and won’t be visible on my character most of the time. I want to buy these things, but not like they’ve been implemented this far.

You would have to get a massive boycott to gemstore items. This is why they gave you the option to transfer in game gold to gems; even though, it’s a very low profit. You will always have the people whom are willing to pay whatever the price to have their pixels look sexy.

I have no doubt there are quite a few of those people running around. The question is whether there’s enough of them to outweigh the potential profit of more permanent cosmetic gear and the customers they’d gain that otherwise would not have spent anything on the gem store. I don’t think it would require any kind of boycott, just number crunching on their end. While I sincerely doubt anything of this sort will happen (once a game is set in it’s ways that tends to be it) I can always hope. In the meantime I’ll continue to casually browse through all the neat costumes and imagine my characters running around in them.

I want some kind of wardrobe. It’s boring wearing the same looks all the time but I’m not going to sacrifice the look I have to transmute to a new look. I’m not going to buy duplicates of max armor just to be able to keep looks.

I hope they get something in soon. I love how the Hall of Monuments works. It’s nice that the achievement skins are in your interface but I wish they would add a wardrobe or NPC like the one in the Hall of Monuments to the home instances or to the Hall of Monuments.

Also, I really wish the “town clothes” could be worn outside of town and in combat. The only time I use them is for costume brawl.

It’s a kitten conspiracy. Kittens gonna be kittens. All is vain!
