The Lost Shores
I couldn’t agree more about making this event longer… However I couldnt agree less about not rewarding specific items for this event.
Events are supposed to be special, and you should be able to take something special away from it.
But Anet, your decision to make this a 3 day event is bizzare I have to agree. I too will miss out on this event! I am not as unfortunate as the OP, I am simply going away this weekend, but I will miss the content entirely as I leave friday night and return Monday morning!
As the OP pointed out, this is just US.. What about all the other people out there who will miss this weekend because of one thing or another they have to do.
3 days is nowhere near enough time for an event to run.
Thanks for reconsidering.

I do want to note that the ‘remove all rewards entirely’ idea was just that, an idea …though it is pretty extreme.
I’m going to miss this event too. But, I don’t want them to stop having one time events because of it. Sometimes there are things that only happen once — I’ll also miss one of my best friend’s birthday celebrations, but I don’t think I’ll ask them to never have another party simply because I can’t make this one.
It’s also not like the new content is going to go away after three days — it just that the one time event will usher in new content to enjoy for the life of the game.
I’ll use an analogy: I can buy tickets to a concert and enjoy that one time “event” or I can buy a CD and enjoy the content forever. I like both. I do both. But, if an artist schedules a concert on a night I can’t attend I don’t ask that they cancel the rest of the tour.
Guild Wars 2 is entertainment — it isn’t the end of the world if people miss events. But it IS cool to be there and to be a part of it, and I’m sad that I won’t get to make it. I hope someone will record it and post it up so that I can enjoy it even though I won’t be able to participate this time around.

I do agree with Aye, in saying, that it’s not that big of a deal to miss the event as to miss a Birthday, but I do want to state that “..never have another..” analogy is void; due to the comment I made prior, that not to reward the people who will be at the event, with items is a bit extreme.
I also understand that it’s not the end of the world, and I find the condescension to be a bit rude. My point was that why boast new content that will “change Tyria forever” and not have some sort participation for all players.
Hence Pre/Post events would resolve this situation entirely.
This is only A-Nets innovative way of introducing new zones to the game.
Its rather nice to have this than just a client picture update update with a “Lost Shore” tag on it.
Don’t worry guys,m you won’t miss something really important. The new content will be available afterwards too. This wont be like the Mag King’s dungeon of Halloween.
