The Tengu
Tengu will most likely be added in the January and February updates with alot of other new features and new content.
Hopefully we will see Maguuma Wastes open up, Ascension armour, updates on legendaries and their effects, new weapon skills, guild halls etc.
They said it will be as big as an expansion.
I hope for guild halls but no new races, at least not Tengus or Kodans. They don’t bring anything new to the game. A winged race would be cool not just some humanoid race with a feathered or furred skin

February will be the month they add Ascended gear in WvW but I haven’t seen any official announcement for January, other than the end of January Fractals update, there is nothing about the January update… Care to enlighten me please? I really want to know what they are “cooking” for January.

What winged race do you have in mind that are related to the story of GW? or even a new race that are featured in GW2 that would bring a story to the game? I can’t think of any right now.
And I agree about Guild Halls, we had that in GW1 as well and that’s a good meeting place for Guild members.

“We had a huge Halloween update in October, we just had a big one in November, we have a giant Christmas update coming in December, and all of those have gone over really well, and I think in December people are going to be really excited. But January and February are actually are biggest updates to date. They’re even bigger than all the stuff we did in October, November and December. And I think that when people see how much stuff they’re gonna get for no monthly fee in January and February, they’re probably going to be blown away. These two months combined are basically an expansion’s worth of content for free” – Colin Johanson

“Some legends hold that the harpies were once beautiful winged creatures who proudly served Dwayna, the Goddess of the Air, until a catastrophic event cast them down from the heavens”
I dont mean they need to be exactly these harpies, but some similar to them which still live in the cities in the sky. We see floating cities in the game already, so why not introduce a heaven realm populated by some new winged creatures

Now I have higher hopes for January, too bad there is no hint as to what they’ll be offering in January, just a vague “These two months combined are basically an expansion’s worth of content for free” I hope for the best and apologize for derailing this thread.
On topic: I don’t think we’ll see a new race in January, it’s too early. Keep in mind that a new race will require new voice overs for all personal story quests… a brand new storyline up to level 30 and other very important staff, I don’t think they had enough time for something THAT big yet.
I DO hope we’ll see the Tengu as a playable race though, they have a huge capital city already, they are a race with lots of backstory and play a role into Guild Wars lore. I believe we will visit the Dominion of Winds close to when Cantha is available
The tengu would be a neat as a race but I’d rather the dredge. I’d really love to have the mursaat brought back to GW as a new playable race, I think the story possiblities for them would be interesting.
Mursaat will always be villains. I couldn’t fathom them being good guys, and how exactly would you personalise them – there’s not much variety in their facial features or their height.

now i could be wrong about this but the mursaat werent exactly populated at the end of GW1? and with regards to Harpy as a race , i dont think that would be possible , theyve never been friendly and have been more close to an animal nature that can speak rather then sentient like centaurs , not saying impossible mind you …..just very unlikely. yes you see them talk like i said , but most of it is references to some kind of queen of sorts? it doesnt seem like they could be remotely close to a playable race level of intelligence regardless.
Playable Quaggans. That is all.
Proud player of Crusader, Arcanist,
Beastmaster, Shadowraider, and Shieldbearer Zakk!
The game is a fantasy, so they can modify and add anything in a very plausible manner. Anyway, a winged race with a sort of aerial combat moves – close to the land not in high sky, similar to those harpies – would be something new to the game race-wise than a bird/bear form like Tengus/ Kodans which are just a different form of humanoids.
I wouldn’t call the Kodan exactly humanoid.

I wouldn’t call the Kodan exactly humanoid.
I haven’t seen Kodans running in four legs like Charrs so from my point of vew they are the bear form of Norns as Tengus are the raven form of Norns.
Not much innovation if they are brought up as playable races
They said it will be as big as an expansion.
They’re probably over-exaggerating, as per usual.
I hope to see Tengu as a playable race someday but I don’t think we’ll see that happen for some time.
