Been playing my thief a lot of late, and I feel stealth needs to be balanced.

here are afew changed that would put it inline.

:Any direct hit removes stealth(Not aoe or cleave)

:Any action performed in stealth that is an attack or skill activation will reveal you for half a second. (this also means stomping)

:An attack that is blocked will reveal you for half a second.

:You cannot stack stealth

:you cannot gain stealth by way of attacking keep doors or walls.

:your enemy no longer loses his target when you stealth, when you appear from stealth they regain their lock on

:Aoe damage you take while in stealth will leave a blood spatter on the floor.

Thieves need the ability to run around in perma stealth with no timer like WoW. Would also like to stun lock peeps for 6 seconds when enough adrenaline/combo points have built up.

No. Plus many (most) classes don’t have direct hits that aren’t cleaves/aoe.

:Any action performed in stealth that is an attack or skill activation will reveal you for half a second. (this also means stomping)

No. Attacks already reveal you, so this isn’t needed (and this also helps prove that you do not play a thief). Why would skill activations reveal you? So when I stealth to apply bas.venom you want people so see where I am? Why? How was this broken before? Mesmers will also be kitten ed with this change.

Don’t have a huge problem with this.

:You cannot stack stealth

This is the wrong approach to this. If you want to nerf D/P then have this change only affect leap combos (similar to other haste abilities which don’t stack – mesmer Temporal Curtain for example). This would nerf SR into the ground (or they would need to buff the stealth it provides). As it stands this is just stupid. Next will be you can’t stack might/haste/etc…

This doesn’t really affect me as I’m never close enough to a wall/door to really take advantage of this (truth be told I didn’t know this even worked on walls)…so I can’t comment on this one way or the other.e

Hell no. The whole point in stealth is an escape from being hit/set up the next attack. No thief (nor mesmer… probably not even rangers now) would ever suggest something like this. It’s bad enough that channeled abilities continue to follow us (my issue here is more that it FOLLOWS you, not that you continue to take damage).

Why? I don’t care if something like this would be implemented, but it would just add stuff to render to an already taxed system.

I actually agree on the stacking part. Here is why. Mesmers have a different kind of stealth with every cloak skill. Some use the same icon (like the normal stealth icon) but do not stack with each other. The decoy stealth is even a very unique stealth, because you can go invisible even when revealed (if that hasn’t been changed yet). For thieves shadow refuge could be such a spezial stealth, that can stack with each other. One would have to figure out, when you apply stackable stealth and unstackable stealth (respectivly they should have different icons for stackable and unstackable). That would allow many builds to work as they do now, however it would require the thieve to time stealth right and might lead to some “nerf” in stealth duration or to some short reveals if not timed perfectly. But it would be in line with how mesmer stealth works atm and would give D/P thieves still their build, but would make it harder to perform and limit it a bit.

However, this being said the stealth is not the real issue I have. I have more a problem with thief heal and cleanse capabilities through stealth and normal heal skill. But this is a matter for another thread in another subforum.
