The guardians, the new race!!
So you’re saying I could roll a Guardian Guardian? I think it’s a bit flimsy.
Edit: We also already have plant people.

Guardians lost their minds long ago, there seem to be no way to create new ones and i have never seen a female one. The story of GW1 doesnt fit for them to be playable in GW2.
Furthermore, they have Horns and seem stronger, but they are more or less equal looking with sylvarie only with less colours…

As said, we already got plant people.
As Chris said they were mad creatures.
Shiroken as you said were minions of Shiro… what exactly makes you think that makes them viable as a playable race?
Tengu are the best contenter to be playable atm, like it or not.
The ‘WARDENS’ were probably wiped out during the time of the Luxon and Kurzick reunification under imperial domination. I’m all for the Tengu, they were my fave race in GW1.
Well, wardens could perfectly be a new race. As for the arguments you suggest:
- char where suposed to be the bad guys, some of them are still mad. And now they are a playable race even though we never saw a female char in gw1. With the death of Shiro and knowing that some parts of the Jade sea and echovald forest are recovering, why cannot they experiment any change?
- i supposed wardens where not plant people. In gw1 they bleed so they where made of flesh. In gw1 bleeding was restricted to flesh and alive creatures. So as I see, they could fit. Norn are exactly like human but bigger and there’s no complain about that.
-shiroken are as valid as char in my oppinion. They are different from the current playable races and attractive. I think it’ll be possible to see them in gw 2 even with shiro being death.
- it looks like the community looks a lot forward to play tengu, but char are the less player picked character. I think tengu will receive the same appeal.
- largos is the best new race seen in gw2 to me also, but still personally i rather pick a warden.
We’ll see what they have for us. Maybe the best thing is to create completely new races never seen before.
Also they are already planning on making a new race… the Kodan. Not sure on time, but I know that they are planning for it…. says the rumors.
The wardens where humans that became connected with Urgoz, the forest spirit they once served, becoming something else, and them both Urgoz and Wardens got corrupted by the Jade Wind. Becoming enraged and aggressive.
If they didn’t got wiped out, I doubt they survived Urgoz’s death.
But who knows, maybe we’ll see them again if they add an expansion featuring Cantha.
But since the Human and Plant themes are already taken, I don’t see them working as a playable race.
They already have the Tengu slated as an eventual expansion(you can even run along the Tengu’s great wall in several maps). It is nigh inevitable that there will be a large kodan related release as well, perhaps not playable, but an extremely kodan themed expansion that is linked with Jormag.
Do not forget there is also the crystal and magma dragons…though the magma one is more of an underground dragon and wiped out the dwarves (so much for having that race =/) Though I can expect it to be centered around dredge and skritt, chances of skritt being playable given how many variations and armor/weapon variations you see them with throughout the game where as dredge always use the exact same models. I’m not sure what to expect from the crystal dragon really as it focused on the charr and human lands and really didn’t drag in any other races to the conflict there. Well, they seem to have elementals being crystalized but that’s hardly ripe for a new race unless they make humanoid elementals.
Now that I think of it, imagine humanoid elementals…would be ripe for an interesting lore and culture.
I’m only interested in playing Tengu and Largos.

There’s already humanoid elementals. They are called Djinn.
Well, wardens could perfectly be a new race. As for the arguments you suggest:
Charr where supposed to be the bad guys, some of them are still mad.
I’m not entirely sure if we’re using the same meaning of the word, ‘mad’.
I wouldn’t say the Charr were ‘insane’ or corrupted, merely misguided and manipulated. The Wardens however, they were corrupted and attacked everyone.
There’s nothing stopping ArenaNet from shoehorning them in but I doubt they’ll be a playable race as their hasn’t been any real show of individuality from them in the past.
I also highly doubt Largos will be playable due to their lore of being secretive, lone mercenary type of race. Not to mention apparently being invisible 90% of the time!? Nerf! But time will tell, we can speculate till the playable race of cows come home.
I’d love to see the Kurzick Juggernauts come back! Not even as a playable race, they were just cool.
