The report system needs a radical change.
That’s why I’m not saying anything about punishment for 1 game. And sure, I understand something may come up and you need to go afk for a bit, but today for example, I had a person who was saying he’s afk, but all he did was stay on spawn and badmouth our team, enemy team, ANet, matchmaking and saying how great he was.
I think that something simular to the gw1 dishonorable combatant system should be in place. I think that system worked pretty well.
This is how it should work. If you accumulate 8 (dishonorable) points your are locked out of sPvP matches for 60 minutes.
You get points for:
Not being active. This has to be a path that has room for bad players. but obvious never leaving the spawnpoint is considered not being active. This ‘rewards’ you with 4 points.
Being reported for leeching by a player of your team: 2 points.
Reporting another player for leeching: 1 point (this is to prevent people from griefing and mis-use of the system, a report means you are annoyed enough to swallow a point yourself too.).
Accumulated points are removed after the daily reset.
After the first time out of 60 minutes you start with 2 accumulated points
After the second time out of 60 minutes you start with 4 points
After the third time out of 60 minutes you start with 6 points.
When getting 8 points for the fourth time you are locked out of games till the daily reset. You can still enter WvW and PvE.
To fill in any other griefing misuse, the misuse of the system can also mean a account suspension or termination if a GM thinks you are misusing the system structurally or against a certain player or group of players.

If you sign a tpvp match and you have to go afk. And a fight starts (you can’t leave as you have already signed). Now you need to do something important till the match end or longer you get 4 points. That’s okay however. If the rest of your team reports you, you get an extra 2-10 points. Thus with 6 to 14 points you have to wait 60 minutes for something you can’t do anything about.
There should be a max of points you can gain per match which is always below the required amount to have a 60 minutes lock out. Something like a max of 4 or 6 dishonorable points.
If you sign a tpvp match and you have to go afk.
Then leave when you have to go afk.
I don’t like the sPvP in gw2 but I highly enjoyed gw1 Fort Aspenwood. When I entered the queue and had to go afk before the start I would always leave the queue, even it ment waiting another 20 minutes to be able to get back in. That is in my opinion the decent thing to do.
Off course there is AFK and AFK. I often went to make a coffee in the kitchen, with one eye round the corner on the monitor. But I doubt anyone would be annoyed if I was 20 seconds later participating in a match.

No, in sPvP it doesn’t matter whether you’re afk or not. sPvP is quite open to anyone to freely join in the middle of the game or people going akitten the middle of the game. I see no problems with this. In the next game the afk player is sorted out as viewer.
However in tPvP it’s completely different. It’s a battle of 2 teams fighting each other with all they have to win the prize. If someone goes afk they can’t leave the queue. You can’t leave the tPvP queue. I already tried several times. Once you’re singed, you’re signed and you have to play. If you have to go afk then, that’s really trouble some and you might even get raged at.
you can’t vote to kick a member from your team? I’m surprised. I haven’t played pvp, but I just assumed based on how everyone complains of booting problems in dungeon parties that they had a similar system in pvp
(where 2 friends will boot everyone else from a party seconds before getting final chest just for giggles)

PvP parties are different. They’re an own group system. You can be in a group and in a different PvP party.
And tPvP… well there’s zero way to leave a tPvP except starting a new character.
Actually, you can’t leave tpvp match only when the window with the game starting pops out. You can leave it before it by going to roster and disbanding.
