The sky
I always wanted to see a better and more noticeable day/night cycle in the game. Imagine WvW fights in the dark during night time, with random lanterns scattered throughout the maps, more dense around the buildings and supply camps, providing light to the players. I am not speaking of a pitch dark environment of course that could possibly cause discomfort in WvW battles. Just something more atmospheric.

Agreed, night in most areas is hardly noticable as ambient light is just too bright. It should be darker.
yea at night, name tags should be off. and it should be as dark as in fractals.
then people can do covert ops.
that would be so dam cool!

I know!!!! It would be awesome!
Generally agree about the contrast thing being hard to tell if it’s day or night in many places. That sounds like an interesting addition to WvW gameplay. Though I disagree about the sky needing to be prettier everywhere. It is awfully pretty in Rata Sum at night.
Fun on someone else’s schedule is not fun
That day/night cycling is almost unnoticeable. The only time I actually notice the change is when I’m on my sylvari and realize that it started glowing. As dark as the ice fractal may be a bit much since it really dampers visibility to where it can be annoying if your computer is in a bright room. Something extremely close to that but slightly brighter would be great.

I agree! But the cycles shouldn’t be too short.
Off topic: maybe there could be thunder storms, blizzards and rain in wvw too. The ground could be slippery after/during the snowfall or have a movement penalty.

In fact, there ARE thunder storms, blizzards and rain in WvW already. And they are in fact extremely annoying, as you are not able to disable these effects via the graphics options. In some team fights it’s really hard to see clearly because of this.
Could Probably do something a little more sophisticated like:
Fort Aspenwood:
6 AM Server Time: Dawn for all PVE zones
10 AM Server Time: Day Time for all PVE Zones
6 PM Server Time: Dusk for all PVE Zones
10 PM Server Time: Night Time for all PVE Zones
Doing something like this, would allow for special events and rare drops/finds.
Example:
Great Sword Dusk increased drop % during Dusk hours
Great Sword Dawn increased drop % during Dawn hours
If they ever release fishing, you could diversify the schools of fish and species able to be caught by the time of day.

This would be amazing, and a lot of fun!
I agree with the OP. A more unified Day/Night cycle, Weather that changes, a night sky that you can trace the constellations in… On the day/night cycle, I find it personally ridiculous that I’ll leave Divinity’s Reach during the day and enter Shaemoor at night… How long does it take to walk through a gate?
that would be kitten to do covert ops cause you could grab your sigil of night and kitten kitten up
I would love to see more weather in the world. Even a little rain here or there or early morning fog would be neat.
Overall I really like the sky in GW2, it has some of the most beautiful skies I ever say, especially in bloodtide coast, however I’d like to see more effects like lens flares from looking at the sun and some more sun rays beaming down between trees. The night could also be a bit more darker for my taste as currently it’s not dark at all.
