Q:

Just in my opinion from playing the thief in pvp,pve and WvWvW, the thief has too few weapon combo’s compared to everyone else and as a result,especially in PVE thieves can become a bit stale and boring, I realise another one would take extensive testing etc. but even if you were to make the sword also usable in off-hand that would open up a variety of other combo’s and put the thief on parr with everyone else.

Exactly what I am thinking. Especially after reading all the Pistol Whip/Heartseeker hate threads I was like: “Well so I can change a little bit of this and that and…Oh can’t change anything else.”
Thiefs and and Engineers are defintely lacking the variety other professions got.

Total Numbers of Weapon Types for all professions (Mainhand+Offhand+2hand together):
Elementalist: 5 (but can change Element to gain new spells)
Engineer: 4
Guardian: 9
Mesmer: 8
Necromancer: 7
Ranger: 9
Thief: 6
Warrior: 12

As Lycan already mentioned if Swords could be used in Off-Hand for Thiefs it would be totally enough if the skills would be new in some kind of way.

I think the variety of weapons is the main reason almost every thief got the same build.

I think the variety of weapons is the main reason almost every thief got the same build.

I think it’s how easy that build is to understand and play effectively. Many people aren’t looking for variety, they just want to play well easily.
When you go to PvE though, that’s a whole different story…
