Thoughts on GW2 Relationships

I’d sooner pursue such things in real life.

Reason for asking is because my wife is pregnant and is awaiting twins. So I want to persue the same things in GW2! O_O

You probably won’t have much time once the twins arrive! Congrats to you and your wife

Just effing around with the question regarding house and babymaking in game but i would much like to be able to hug people in games the same way I can wave to them and laugh at each other. ^^ Thanks for the blessing. I am sure I will find some time to keep playing a game that I so much love.

Second Life.
You can make your wife there, and she can have your twins. As a bonus, when the kids are born, you can alter her appearance to make her look like a sexy Catwoman again.
There’s a lot of role players there too. You could role play your family.
And people build gaming SIMs too, so you could still fight monsters and other people.
Not in Guild Wars 2, please :-(

Then they can add in child support and alimony! 70% of all your gold drops, with a temp-ban for each month you fail to produce said gold!
I always liked in iRO (Ragnarok Online) you could marry another player. With some benefits such as summoning them to you and giving them health or mana, eventually you could adopt and have mini characters with limitations, etc. It worked with the game. I know some games have pursued marriage aswell (can’t really recall any though, I want to think Rift did it but I’m not sure if that was real) but it always kind of cool, even if you didn’t have a significant other to play with you could always marry your leveling partner or something. xD Course once they put in something like that then you have to take a stance on same-sex marriage and the like so thats why its usually heavily avoided I imagine.
And there is my nostalgia trip for the day. :P
I dunno though, as much as I enjoyed it in iRO I don’t really miss it. You can always roleplay it. Housing would be nice (though I rarely used it in other games), but you can also roleplay that as well. /shrug
But congratulations on the twins and hope everything goes well in that department. Waiting for babies goes by so fast.
Totally serious, when will you be able to hug your wife, get a house and kid – all in gw2!?
You are clearly mistaking GW2 for a single player sandbox RPG like Skyrim or Fable :/
The idea of online roleplaying games is that you interact with other living human beings…
No, there are games out there where you can marry a player, not just an NPC.

Yep, think FFXI had it and other games I can’t remember.

I would rather them fix the very long list of things causing them to lose accounts before allowing me to hug my wife in game…it is also way more satisfying to hug my wife IRL…
Maplestory and Mabinogi had it set up so you could marry another player. You got a wedding ceremony in a church of your choice, and you each got a special wedding ring that you could engrave. Little hearts or other animations would pop up when you got near each other.

My advice to you is forget game marrige and hugging and get alot of sleep while you can. Wish i did while i could. Anyway, good luck!
A similar post was made here about in-game marriage.

So pretty much what Anet puts us through now?
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
In Perfect World Online, a male character can carry a female character at least.. Makes running distances so much easier (for us with female toons). I want such convenience in gw2 too!

I’d suggest fable for that. It is a brilliant game, good atmosphere and you can pursue relations, housing and kids.

Could you imagine carrying your bride-to-be around in Orr, pursued by undead?
It’s so silly that it must become a thing.
Well you could already get married in-game. Get (or better yet craft) a couple of rings, pick a location, round up some friends and hold a ceremony. People did it all the time in Ultima Online with absolutely no mechanics for it.
My sister even ran a wedding planning business where she’d hire out cloth and flowers and things to decorate a venue, make cake and rings and recommend websites to find ceremony suggestions.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I’d sooner pursue such things in real life.
Nothing wrong with a /hug emote.
Would open the doors to a new GW2 Holiday being: Earth Day’s hug a Sylvari Day.
While I can agree with a hug emote, and can even congratulate you on your twins…..the rest, yeah….no.
If you want to marry another character and breed, there are many other games that suit your desires. I would much prefer if we keep that crap out of GW2.
i think your looking for the sims.
congratulations on the twins though!

What’s wrong with their fingers? They’re all conjoined. :O
Oi! I left this thread for 2 days and so much congratz! Thanks people! :’) And I was just effing around with the Sims features. But I would much like to hug or as suggested at least carry my bride. Lol. Thanks again for the congratz, now I can go to sleep well! ^^

as long as i can carry my husband even if my character is not a woman…
can you see my mesmer carrying my boyfriend guardian? i would do it all day long,
yes and marry him with hearts over my head whenever we are near.
i really would love it, but i think the grim and dark lovers in gw2 community would puke their souls out.

But church weddings are boring!
Mine is better… A cosplay wedding with mini-games and battles and swimming and people bring their dogs and play catch and people help with cooking the food etc etc.
(sorry, it’s more exciting without punctuation)

That would be nice (if you can do it whenever you want). Then I, a big norn, can carry my husband, a tiny asura.
But I’d prefer if it were swapped, so I can go take a nap while my husband runs my character. He plays a male asura, I play a female norn. He’s the male, he has to carry me, right?
Wait… how can a tiny asura carry a big norn?
And I don’t want to imagine a norn and a asura fornicating. I guess they could adopt children of any race, though!
Would it be possible for two male characters (of any race) to marry each other? I’d like that.
OK, now you’re getting me excited about this.

This will attract pedophiles for sure
This will attract pedophiles for sure
That’s OK, human women look 13 years old anyway, and they wear “adult” clothes ;-) Oh no, a 13 year old thief is exposing half her breast! Oh no, pedophilia!
Housing is a feature, that has been announced for GW2 a long tiem ago and still we are waiting for it ..
however, should hosuing really ever get implemented into GW2 (otherwise our personal instances would be totally useless), i think the next step forward would be to improve the general stuff around it with a Marriage Feature, which is also a thing, that people (I myself too) are suggesting for years…
It would be a nice little feature so that people are able to show off others, if someone in the game is special to them that they feel to have a special bonding to that goes over being just only friends…
But getting kids is imo going too far, GW2 is no real life simulation, not a Fable Clone….
I hope, that housing will be something we wil see in GW2 over the next half year.
Im very interested in that posting from Colin, when he will talk about the next 6 months after June, as he did for the first half year of 2013, where he told us, was we could all expect within these 6 months.

Housing was a feature that they said they would eventually do, probably in the first paid expansion. That’s quite a difference from an annouced feature. There was never a timeline for it. It’s clearly never been a priority. But it may be added to an expansion to increase interest.
ok, maybe ive misunderstood that..however, its something they have said they are considering to do …
There wasn#t yet anything official like
“There will be never housing in GW2 and all what comes with it”
again, without features like this, the personal instance, for example the Salma District in Divinities Reach would be until today completely useless and if I remeber myself right, then anet has said once, that our actions we do over the course of the game, especially our personal story should have influence on our personal intances.
But until now, nothing happened with our personal instances..they are still exactly the same, as like when we have had begun with the game…

You may want to take a break from video games as you are taking them too seriously.
I guess a /hug emote would be nice, but if there was an option to marry a player id most likely avoid it :p.
