…is a valid mechanism so stop complaining. They won’t take it away anyways, unless… Maybe Anet could toss in a few more useable items in the gem shop? How about an item that will reset the time gate for a dungeon or open world boss?

I know that patience and common sense are both rareties these days, but please consider this:
Anet is a company. Not unlike any other company, they need to make money. Do they make money off of you spending 4 billion hours on farming gold for gems, or tokens? No. If anything, our bandwith useage cost money. Money that many are ridiculously unwilling to push into the game.

all this naive white knighting has got to stop.

a business will take as much money as it thinks it can get away with. it doesn’t just stop at “enough” and then lower the prices because it wants to be nice. they’ve said themselves that the gemstore was a huge success and they don’t even need to fall back to a boxed expansion. they are making quite a bit of money, and that’s fine. but it’s up to the players to let them know what is and is not a fair exchange for our money. rng boxes prey too harshly on people’s gambling instincts, and they should find alternate methods of sale.

White knighting? I’m merely asking people to start using their brains.

I think the best point in this thread is that selling RNG for real world money is unethical. It would be downright illegal if those RNG boxes could contain something that is worth real world money, but they get away with it because it “only” contains virtual items and nobody’s going to get addicted to gambling for virtual items, right?

Right…?
