Q:

I am running into a major problem, well I should say my entire guild is. I’ll start with the daily events, most of us are on the East coast, and work 9-5. With Traffic we make it home by 6, so that only leaves an Hour to get all my Daily done, which is not near enough time. Now as a single parent if you add cooking and actually eating, well it doesn’t even pay to sit down to play! Which is what is happening with a lot of the Women in our guild, they are simply not playing, they don’t have the time to Feed the kids, get them ready to bed, and then have any quality time. Dailies should end at midnight, like they do in other games, or later.

Timing for special events are also too short; perhaps a month would be too long, but a week to two weeks just seems like it’s not enough. Getting info on events takes time, then to actually do them and gather items for the rewards take even more time, and forbid you have more than one character…. Your Winter Solstice event was so far the best, however I would say I missed at least 50% of the content. Halloween was the Worst, with many of the Items you obtained not being permanent, most people in my Guild did not even bother… And that’s sad.

Every game has a grind, it seems to be the penalty or cost perhaps of getting cool gear, but as in every other game grinding gets tiring, which leads to people making “other” characters to get a break. I feel a person should be able to grind for an hour and accomplish their dailies at least, and then they are free to do as they wish

You do realize that you can complete part of the daily on one calendar day and the rest the next, right? For example, if you can only play from 18:30EST until 19:30EST, you spend the first half hour finishing the daily you started yesterday and the second half hour getting started on the new daily (which you will complete the following calendar day).

If you know the dallies reset at 6pm local time perhaps you should plan to do the dailies after 6pm and finish them before bed time. For me the dailies reset at 1pm local time. For other people they will reset at 1am local. So each time zone has them change at a different local time, when I think about it the dailies do reset at midnight, midnight GMT. Sure they cannot please everyone but whatever they do it will be a little inconvenient for some.
They have already stated they have learnt from the previous events and now trying it a different way.

Danonia – Mesmer – I’m over here!

I can’t really see how you missed anything in Wintersday. It went on for more than 3 weeks and the amount of content wasn’t all that massive. Even an hour a day would have probably finished everything up with plenty of time to spare over the whole event period, unless you spent a lot of time trying to do something like the Jumping Puzzle unsuccessfully (or spent that time doing other stuff like normal dungeons). The only things that really seemed like it’d take time was the JP and building the snowmen, the latter of which I’d hestitate to really qualify as signifigant content, since it was nothing more than “run around and find snow piles” and didn’t get you any reward at all beyond achievement completion.

As for the daily thing… as mentioned, the time it happens depends on timezone. What would be midnight for you would be midnight for no one else, and someone has it at midnight as it is right now.

Also as mentioned, if it happens at a time when you don’t have much time to complete it before the swap, then just make sure to finish it after it switches over. Then you’ll be done until the next day, rather than trying to cram it in right before. Thats how I usually do my dailys, I’ll do them a couple hours after the switch and then I’m set ’till after the swap tommorow.
