Tired of the Ganking in the Jumping Puzzle?
If you prevent opposing players reaching the end of the jumping puzzle, you prevent them from receiving free siege items and tokens (which directly affects the score of the match).
The jumping puzzles are strategic points to hold. If my team holds the jumping puzzle, and can move 100 people through it in an hour, we have picked up 200-300 pieces of siege, while your team hasn’t gotten any and has to use gold to buy siege instead.
I accept that as a completely valid reason. But this is a very challenging puzzle and it would be nice to complete it just once from start to finish and never mind the rewards. May be it could be made available as a non-PvP challenge also?… but I dont see that happening sadly. It seems perhaps I may just be in the wrong game – or perhaps the wrong server!! – my “lot” seem to have no concept of the value of this puzzle and make no attempt to take and hold it!!
Thanks for the reply and the explanation though – appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I respectfully disagree. This isn’t ganking or griefing. It’s PvP. We’re all L80 (Yes I’m aware there is a dramatic difference between a real L80, and a lowbie sclaed to 80). This is an MMO, and WvWvW is a team game. I would encourage you to find other like minded guildies or server mates to roll with and get the job done. I’m assuming you’re not getting stomped in a 1v1, so roll with a group of people, conquer! Have some pride! It’s called Mist War for a reason.
I know its not related to the topic, but PvP should be outlawed in everygame. it only teaches people of all ages that violence to others is ok and war is just a fun activity. I am sure none of the game producers or players who design or play this types of games in the market have actually been in a war with bullets flying all around and corpses lying down everywhere or have lost a dear friend/brother/sister in there. Its ridiculous how people talk easily about siege weapons when they have never experienced and survived a huge explosion from close range. And the reply “its just a game” wont answer the problem it induces into people’s subconscious. That is what i had to say. Thank you for reading.
You’ve sparked my interest in trying that puzzle out ;P Sounds like fun!
Its simple, the PvE requirements should be removed from WvWvW completely. They have no business being there.
Get it taken down -
Do whatever it takes if you care about this game -
Once you’ve got the ropes, you can do the Jumping Puzzle in less than 5 minutes. It’s only challenging for the first few times.
After that the only challenge comes from dealing with the UW guys camping our borderlands puzzle 24/7 with ballistae and arrow carts.
I know its not related to the topic, but PvP should be outlawed in everygame.
It’s called Guild Wars. You can’t get a more literal truth-in-advertising as it applies to the name of the game.
@Ronah – I respecfully disagree. Rather, you should be encouraging as many others as possible to play games like this. How any lives could have been saved across the scope of human history if those who bear the drive for violence had games like this to focus those energies into?
I suppose you think that the game comes first, and the urge follows. I have no such illusions. I know my heart. I know what people like me evolved for. For those who are born warriors, the thirst for war isn’t just an ability but an undeniable urge. 500 years ago, it wouldn’t have been a digitized axe in the hands of an avatar, it would have been my axe and it would have been the blood of other human beings. But thankfully I live now, in this place where relative peace and even a fair degree of harmony have become the norm. And I have games like this to exercise those demons’ incesant call rather than finding less harmonious ways to express them. I am deeply grateful.
So anyway, how about that jumping puzzle?
Then use the hidden fountains to become stealthed! I know the location of 2 of them. First one is up the side to the right when entering the puzzle through the portal. the next one is after the first obstacle course: it is up some rocks in the corner before you head down the corridor to climb up the well.
These fountains (there should be more because I have seen invisible players, contradiction there, further up in the puzzle) give you invisibility for several minutes. You do not get to use any weapon skills though but they help you a lot. Ofc aoe can break the effect but they do not notice you at all, not even when you min that rich Orichalcum vein right under their nose
It speaks logic that those fountain serve the function of allowing players like you (outnumbered) to solve the puzzle and reach the end.
