First off, the majority of players in GW2 really love the idea of WvW, the issue is that it is currently being abused by Guilds and Players transferring to new servers when scores reset in order to top the rankings. The World Transfer function was left free for far to long and has such a short cooldown that its killing both WvW and server communities.

The fact is even a change to World Transfers now by either adding a longer cooldown or giving it a STEEP price-tag (Which it really should have) is only going to make things worse.

As soon as you decide to do either of the above changes, players and guilds will begin mass transferring to servers and by the time the system is implemented, we would have a couple of full servers with lots of PvP oriented guilds, a few normal servers and then their would be the last few server which would have completed destroyed communities as a result.

There is one radical fix to both the WvW and Population issues and happens in a few steps.

1. Pick a future date and when it comes bring the servers down for about a day.
2. Reset all players home servers, so when they login after the servers come back up they have to pick a new home server.
3. Wipe all previous WvW scores and records to this point, the scores
currently don’t mean much due to mass exploiting of the Transfer system.
4. Give every server a new name, this is to avoid players logging back on and filling the previously most popular server before this started, if the names were changed, every server is a blank slate.

If you give the community enough time, say 1 week, they can sort out their guilds and friends and keep in touch with one another when this happens.

This may be an extreme measure but it may be the only one that will fix both these issues that are right now in the verge of crippling your game. Its fare to say other developers saw your WvW idea and will go with it in future, and avoiding the bugs and errors made on your part to make a system superior to your own.

Right now your community fully supports you and GW2 and im sure I speak for the majority when we say we would go with this if it would have a chance of fixing the game and most importantly its server communities.
