So, this is really the first time actually posting something on the forum. As with a lot of topics on suggestions it’s going to have complaints on how the game works, but the majority of them are caused by differences between the developers and the players. I love GW2, In my own opinion it beats so many other popular MMOs In so many different areas. I’ve played since the first beta weekend, with a few months of burn out time/actually needing to focus on life. While others who play GW2 also played GW1 and compare it frequently to it, I never played, sadly I was the 9 year old wow fan boy kitten. Which is where I find the reasons why I love this game and to a point, where I find my self burning out again. I left wow when cataclysm came out, nothing changed there, nothing at all, don’t want to get into that one. But when I found this game 2 years ago in February in which about 2 months of fanboyism ensued. (is that an official term? I think it is) So many concepts for the game they showed. Despite what others said, I thought they implemented more than a fair portion into the final release of the game. with more coming out with the first months to follow.
Which is where the first disconnect between the devs and players come up. community driven gameplay, I.E. world/meta events/bosses (watching the shadow behemoth rip into existence for the first time as a player, so awsome /) ^3^(\ ) the first steps in your personal story, the Instant complete availability of structured player versus player. These were all so fun, until the tryhards, haters, and exploiters became more than abundant… weather it would be the rampant ranting of wow kitten… well wow faggin, tryhards taking the gameplay to the next level and exploiters ruining the economy right off. While I love the public shaming and ban scares fallen onto these foul players. I find now, a year and a half later, they are starting to make a comeback.
Next point. Casuals, this game is not really casual friendly, not anyone at least, now with the majority of the player base maxed out at 80, I don’t see a lot of lower levels rolling around anymore, and I don’t see many new names come up either, it could just be from no one join new on maguuma, but I think this problem is on other servers too. there are so many things that ruin it for the new guy, with high levels karma training the newbie areas. The new players, which are few, either loose the immersion of the game (MY IMMERSION – bridger) from players just treating events like microwave counting down till the food’s ready, or the new player that rides this crazy train to 80 not understanding how most of the game works, burning out 2 weeks into the game thinking they’ve done it all, and thinking there’s nothing left. I would like to see ways for the higher level to want to leave the lower areas some how, other than ultimate diminishment of loot returns, karma and all. (this is going to get so disorganized,so quickly) While we are on the topic of new players, I’m goin to derail slightly. Whats with the marketing for this game, When it first came out I saw potiential cinema/media commercials, Posters for gaming shops, decent online ads, ect. but it all seems to have disappeared, While the tv commercial was rather odd, I see no reason to bury and never attempt it again. the awesome previews and reviews of the game at conventions and online, seemed to stop after its release, which I understand the reviews though, only so many reviewers and all. But all I see now are, what I consider second rate animation ads on website banners, which makes this game seem like some pay to win(shut up, it’s not p2w and you know it!) pay to win face book game. (going off course some more, going to be a lot more) It seems, to me at least, that GW2 is trying to “compete” with MMO which I don’t think is a smart move, the game isn’t really an MMO like others. This game is, well was, a fast paced, “it’s going, if you miss it you miss it” kind of game. I recall one of my favorite reviewers, The Cynical Brit, Totalbiscuit, speaking on this how you had to choose what to do and almost all the time you would miss out on something. Which I enjoyed, It felt like there was always something to do tomorrow. I think GW2 should flaunt a bit, really show what they plan to do, Show some progress on its future content on ads(like youtube ads before vids… kitten you I don’t use ad block)

And stop saying we are going(next point btw!) to do this soon and don’t deliver. I’m not biting for more material. I’m asking for honesty, Say that we have ideas but it takes time. But for the love of what ever entity watches over us, DO NOT RUSH. I’m patient… mostly. But that’s besides the point. I want see fun content with the bells and whistles and all the fluff stuffed inside, I’d wait months and months for that, so I feel I should say I’m a bit of a hater with the living story. while I love the personality of scarlet. and a few parts of her gameplay, I would like to see a little more fluff on her, Easter eggs, more than just back skins and minis for rewards, in game mini books with back story, ect.
Now for the content coming out/what we have. Our current jumping puzzles, or rather challenges, I would like to see jps with more puzzle than jumping, while I like some of the fast paced jps like mad kings tower, and hate others like the winter wonderland.(le shudders at the thought of the many of hour spend trying to beat that kitten ed thing) I would Like to see more puzzles that work my brain. I did one just to day, I think it was called hexagonal lab something or other. But it had hidden switches you needed to find. they eventually timed out but it took a while, longer than I need to find all 3, Which I like, not a hard puzzle, could have been harder, but It did make me think a bit more than the other puzzles do. (to sidetrack….even more, again I would like to see these mechanics involved a lot more in future content, dungeons, live world, ect.) My next part in this point, personal stories, I feel has been a beaten dead horse for a while, first part is joyfully entertaining, truherne (that’s the plant’s name right) comes along and ruins it. while I think it’s a small part of the game to be honest. I’ll leave it be feeling more than certain my ideas of it have been covered by others.

So onto the subject of crafting, I love crafting in games, (even more out side of them, kinda skilled, but can work with several mediums.no more sidetracking!) but I think the game’s crafting system is too…clean. Where as other games you need items that are only used for one thing and one thing only, if you forget it your boned. This game however is organized, simple. Wis fine and not fine. I like having everything readily available at my crafting station, being hooked up to the bank and collections tab. All there ready for use, but with everything tier based I feel like a factory worker, I gota go get the part that we have millions of from the tp. Bring it to the bench, make piece, glue it to another, nail to a thing, tape it to a whachimacallit. Then put it on the conveyor belt of the tp for your pay then repeat this process until your at the quota of crafting level 500 in which you go from the factory floor and benches, to the farms and, blast whats term I could use here… oh well you get point, to go out and grind out the dust, ores, and those slippery fragments that want to avoid me. (To allow myself to sidetrack some)I recently power leveled to 500 huntsman for ascended gear via money to gems to gold, I’m awful aren’t I. but it came so close to spending all the gold from it to get to 500, a bit much for a section of leveling don’t you think?) but my idea would be is to have the ascended gear as easy to achieve as exotics were. Many ways to get them, all of the same level stats. though to get them it was just a step more to get a set. And as for the skins, what about having a few more styles based off of armors that are already made. I bet many players wouldn’t like this but I think there would be a lot that would like to see different variations of their preferred looks. Back to crafting! I would like to see items come up to add a bit of fun to crafting, items that can only be gathered one way that isn’t a traditional farm quest. like playing an mini game or 2, items only to drop from certain mobs/chests/the like. That rotate from maps every so often to mix it up a bit.
I can’t really think of any other matters to call upon. I’ll probably think of some more later so with that I leave you with this extremely horrid, rushed, unorganized list of complaints/ideas that I made. Have fun grammer kittens and the like!
