Rocking Wizard Wars until this mess of a game is fixed…
Can we have an option to get rid of all the info that clogs the screen there?
It was bad enough before, but now clogging with daily gunk also!?
Everybody & their kitten knows they can press H, click bottom left & ta-da, guess what is clearly visible there?
DAILIES!
Here’s a fun idea: Play without your UI.
:D
We’ll call it… “GW2 – Expert mode”
I turned this in as a bug.
I’m sorry, ANet, if you are going to promote game play as “we want players focused on the center of the screen” and then you continually add creeping “clutter” to the screen which is distracting and annoying then you need to add an option that allows you to stop showing this. Especially when using an eye-catching color like orange (a known color used to draw attention.)
This request to eliminate visual clutter includes:
*holiday event texts
*the new daily info/et al
Please be consistent in your values and provide a UI option to turn off the unnecessary screen clutter.
I fully agree. I want an option to turn this off. It’s no less than logical to give us this. Sorry if I come across as rude or demanding. This just greatly annoys me.
I have played with UI off fairly often, because stuff like that kittens me off.
Also why I`d like to be able to see enemy name plates when UI is closed, but for some weird reason, that wasn`t implemented
As for clutter, this is stupid…
Yes it can be shrunk a little, but then imagine that with your story mode green marker & text. Seasonal marker & text. Camps etc etc.
plsfix yada!
Oh no…still at work. haven’t even dl’d yet. That looks to be very distracting. Yes…please make it optional!
I’m a big fan of the design teams whole “we don’t want to clutter the screen” mentality. While I do enjoy the dailies themselves, I feel like having a mandatory daily tracker that is always on your screen kind of goes against that whole “not wanting to clutter the screen” mentality. I know that you can minimize the menu, but it would be nice to have the option to make it go away completely, seeing as how I already know where to go in order to check my daily achievement progress. Thanks!
I’d also like this to go away. I never look at my dailies … I play and if I get them, I get them. I truly hate being forced to see them.
I don’t mind that the ability to see them in this way is there – but can we please have a toggle to turn it off if we don’t want it?
It’s very annoying and clogs up the screen. At least give us the option to turn it on or off.
Triggers for certain parts of the UI to turn on/off in general would be nice. And this daily/monthly UI is not acceptable… if you unfold it you would think it would stay this way NOOOO wrong! It folds up after every update and you have to unfold again.
Honestly: Opening the character menu + click is faster then getting my mouse to the upper right corner…
Greetz (‘-’)/
I would like an option to turn off all that useless clutter on the right side of my screen. Forcing all that crap in my face all the time is a step back in development in my humble opinion.
i, for one, would absolutely revel in the ability to remove or add any of the ui elements currently in existence. i am severely ocd, which means that EVERY time i get a new notification that items have sold on the trading post, i am once-again infuriated that the verkitten red icon remains on that, even after i’ve opened the window and seen that, yes, indeed, i have money and/or items waiting for me. now, you add even more crap to my screen, and leave me absolutely no recourse but to fight my eyes tendency to dart over there because that bloody orange star is sitting there saying “hey, look at me!”
guys, love you dearly, love the game. but a customizable ui, at LEAST giving us the option to show/hide elements, is NOT an unreasonable request.
I am all for this with the option plainly available (for those that can’t quite figure the UI out) to have them reappear easily. It doesn’t quite bother me or get in the way as I have a larger screen, but there are things I have not seen due to a notice or whatever being there.
I suggest perhaps being able to completely alter the UI as we were able to in Guild Wars 1. Where we chose where to have our skills panel, mini map, announcements, chat, etc.
It’s forced becuse they think dailies are good. (Do you remember Henry from Forsaken World?…oh my…)
+1 to this.
Another terrible UI decision.
Along with not being able to have multiple chat windows and not being able to move the minimap and chat window to whereever we’d like
Thread title could be a little better, but I do agree there should be an option to toggle the daily/monthly info. There should be one for the personal story into too for that matter. I don’t like having that stuff up there in the top right of my screen when I have no intent to use it.
I am with everyone else. I rarely do the daily. Don’t really care to. Now I am stuck looking at this clutter on my screen. On top of the story quest. On top of the irritating black scratches on the edge of my screen.
Personally I love the daily tracker. Particularly with achievements that change, and the addition of new ones. It was a blessing to be able to check to see if I dodged in time, or whether that combo field counted or whatever.
I’m not so much of a fan of the monthly, since I have no plans to complete it.
In any case, however, I’m very much in favor of customization. Put a checkbox on the hero window to allow/disable the daily/monthly tracking, and those of us that want to use it can, and those who don’t need it can turn it off. Everyone’s happy (minus someone who’s bound to complain about something, due to the nature of “can’t please everyone all the time”).
An option to toggle various pieces on/off would be a good idea, though I have to say the GW2 interface is pretty minimal for an MMORPG. There’s not a lot I would want to take away for any significant length of time, but UI customization options is always a good idea.
Also, just going to leave image here for no reason…
Anet’s argument to not implement an option to turn off any part of the UI is to reduce the number of players from asking Anet: “I turned off ____. Help me turn it back on.”
Not much confidence in the player-base lol.

lol yerp, I used to play that game & some of my first attempts at addon mixes were terribad.
But that was the advantage, we got used to them & could remove the ridiculously dumb things that ActiBlizz` used to add in (& add our own ;p).
Mine looked like the following in the end, along with a couple more for bgs
Two full bars of spells to right were perma-hidden.
Another bar at top similarly so.
I slogged through the daily post patch & am now stuck with the “You haven`t done Fractals for you monthly” constant reminder.
PvE, never have, never will.
Cluster I`m reminded of when trying to camera angle for that sneaky arrow cart
+1
please at least add an option to hide this top right stuff!! I mean showing the “monthly” achievements once you finish the daily? Really? Then I have an orange star one which seems to have nothing in it!
Maybe just put a little “x” icon that hides the frame, and make it re-appear when you mouse over the area
Adding my voice to this ; please add an option to hide dailies , monthlies , (yearlies, decadeies etc….

love the pic, by the way. In that game, when you have mods that tell you what you need to do, and when, you really don’t need to see what is actually going on =D
Anyways, for me personally the new UI in the too right doesn’t bother me, but I see no reason not to support adding an option to toggle it off.
The forced upper right notifications make for a less enjoyable experience. Second the UI options to be added.
I actually only finished my story to get rid of the stupid green star…. now I’ve got a purple star and an orange one?
Not impressed.
i definitely want to turn all of this off.
I know when I have dailies and I know I can look at the achievement screen if I want to check how I’m doing.
I want to turn 100% of notifications in the upper right off permanently.
I want an option to turn this stuff off as well. Dynamic Events are pretty useful over there, same with WvW and sPvP stuff. But I don’t need to see dailies or holiday stuff over there. Personal story stuff is useful if you’re currently doing the story but if you’re doing other stuff you shouldn’t have to see it up there. There needs to be a section in the options with check boxes for each of the items displayed so you can turn them on or off individually.
Having the daily and monthly achievements just clogs the top right of my screen and it is not needed in my view.
I also do not do the monthly achievement due to not wanting to do anything related PvP or WvW so its not useful information for me when iv’e completed my daily and will just sit there and never ever get completed, unless you remove the pvp/wvw options which I very much doubt you ever will and that I think is a failing not having a PvE (only) monthly version not everyone who plays this game does pvp or wvw.
Can you please add in a tick option to show or not the achievements, and it is for me faster to press H then just click the achievement icon as that is what I am used to.
Was this actually asked for by other players ? and I mean more than just a handful..
Thanks

Your screenshot made me LOL.
How I remember that so much.

We’ll call it… “GW2 – Expert mode”
I’m surprized you didnt know there is an “Expert Mode”.
You can Hide all the UI ingame…
Problem is, it hides EVERYTHING.
Press F11 → and it should be somewhere under “Controls”.
=) There is your expert mode. That should get rid of your UI and all the junk on the Right! hehe
Control shift H, welcome to hard mode marine, now kit up!
P.S. Apparently reason things are up there is because some players are too dumb according to:
That it’s there for “stupid mode” is depressing in the extreme. I don’t even care if I have to download a patch from you guys manually to turn it off and bend over backwards, I would like the option a-la-GW1 UI to close/turnoff/lose crap as I pleased.
I actually only finished my story to get rid of the stupid green star…. now I’ve got a purple star and an orange one?

Ha, likewise!
Please Anet, please give us a toggle option for this and fix the UI in general along similar lines. It’s horribly clunky and outdated.
No matter what we’re all doing in-game the UI is there for all of us, all the time. So really I can’t understand why it’s been left in such a seemingly half-done state.

here is another person asking you to remove the bit of clutter.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/How-do-I-get-rid-of-the-new-UI/first#post1313230
The old screenshots didn’t do the new dreamer justice. It made an amazing bow look like crap. Glad they changed it!
(edited by randomfightfan.4091)
Seriously though Arenanet, can you please give us an option to turn this off already!?
Any time I WP, story mode opens up.
Any time I die, same result.
Only reason I do dailies is to clear my screen of crap
Same goes for monthlies.
I know you need this for the dumb folk, but you can set it on by default & those of us with an IQ higher then our collective toes can turn it off.
Even those that forget where it is can ask guildies, /mapchat, /teamchat etc.
begs
Also, please a timer on the shields.
Yeah they look shiny & all that, but permanently there until clicked?
Five seconds max screen space would be suffice.
(edited by Fishbait.6723)
So here we are, three months later & still no!?
There is so much crap top right now with story, flame & frost, dailies, monthlies, local events that it constantly opens them EVERY time we wp & with there being so many it rarely keeps open one, it chops & changes, having to shrink down any random one.
Anet, your philosophy was that excessive UI takes away from immersion. If it’s not needed, it’s not needed. Keep It Simple. Now live up to your words.
Give us the option to get rid of the clutter if we so desire.
I just wish the UI was smaller. Back in GW1 I used to always play with my friends list open in the bottom right hand corner so I could see when friends were online, but now, with the size of the friends list, I cannot do it. It just blocks off too much of the screen.
Here we are, still stuck with this crap :$
There is so much junk top right that it is even competing with the rest of the crap to open/close up other parts.
In the picture, level 80 ranger (same for my necro, mesmer, warrior etc…) showing Daily (& when I`ve HAD to do that it switches to) monthly, Southsun (or any other new story/seasonal event crap that is out at the time…), the event that I`m engaged in or just passing by, & last but largest is the story, which as you can tell I`m a level 80 ranger & haven`t & will never be doing the story, but am forced to stare at this EVERY time I do anything, because all of these reset any time I get another event complete shield.
I don`t even care about the dailies/monthlies & whatever Laurels etc that I`d gain, when I load a game I want to play it the way I want to play it (does that ring a bell Anet? “We want you to play….”) not having to do dailies/monthlies just to clear this crap.
Same goes for spvp, why the hell hasn`t an option been added to turn this off already?
Consider this petition signed.
Agreed that there should be an option to stop the top-right-corner missions from appearing.
This is a serious concern for me rather than a major annoyance. It is making the game unplayable for me. Joined the GW2 forums and searched specifically for a thread on this topic.
I’m more for an option to either turn these interface elements on and off as the user desires.
For example, I hate my Achievements pane minimising whenever I successfully complete an event.
I hate that I can only display 5 achievements; I’d like the “Slayer” ones I’m tracking to remain on screen permanently whilst I am also tracking my Daily.
I absolutely despise the fact that the only way to get rid of the Personal Story tracker is to complete the kitten ed story!
I admire that their intent is to reduce screen clutter, but I would go the other way and say that if there are people who LIKE screen clutter, they should be allowed to see as much or as little of it as they like!
I finished my personal story just to get rid of the tracker, so that might a reason they don’t remove it.
I’ve completed it on three of my nine characters, but I’ve seen everything I want to see from it now and I wikitten would just SOD OFF.
Oh great, here we are again…
New month, new forced dailies (pve/pvp) on the top of the screen again.
Followed by monthlies afterwards…..
Tedious UI crap!!!!!
I still hate it as well. Mine is actually a medical issue where it causes me stress and anxiety when I see that on my screen and can’t remove it. It is pretty disgusting that the bar is still forced on our screen months later. Something should have been done to remove this clutter.
They seem obsessed with putting more kitten on the screen then ever before, ala…..
They started off fairly well, despite no options to move any of this unlike Guild Wars excellent UI options, then added dailies, monthlies, seasonals, story, shields until clicked etc etc etc
It stinks that you can’t aim a ground targeted skill on the event UI (and the enemy UI).
If you ground target to show the green ring, then move the mouse to the event area and try to ground target, it says “out of range” and doesn’t let you use the skill.
You know, all the UI clutter goes away when you get Downed, so Anet already has the code to make it go away based on certain conditions (such as when you get Downed). If Anet gave us a toggle in options to hide it in combat, then the game could check if you’re in combat, then hide the UI clutter.
They could hide the same exact stuff they currently hide when you get Downed.
I have my “hide interface” set to the ` (grave) key, in American keyboards it’s to the left of the 1 key. So it’s pretty handy to turn off the UI when I go into combat. I’d still like to see my skill bar and the enemy bar, though.
