Dear Arenanet,
Guild Wars 2 is released for about one year now. Although the Trading Post has seen some great improvements during this time, I wonder why it is still lacking two of the most basic features – a filter for the armor classes and linking items from the Trading Post to the chat window.
Whenever I invite new (or almost new) players to this game, they tell me, that finding their desired armors or skins is a royal pain in the butt here. I tend to agree, because when I try to help and explain them everything, I find myself constantly switching between the game client, fansites with screenshots, and databases that hold item codes. If this is a hassle for me, as a long term player, you surely can imagine how new players can react to something like that. If I would not do the ‘search work’ for them, they would get frustrated really, really fast. It simply eats up to much time. Giving them more clarity, with a filter for armor classes, would help immensely, because browsing through the offers would be so much smoother. Also linking stuff from the Trading Post to the chat window would help veterans. This way they could help newbies more easily.
I understand, that you have many things to do and that you have priorities. I know, that I do not have insight into your infrastructure, databases and programs that are connected to them. However, I also know, that every single database available is able to perform such actions. I am very sure, that your experts can create queries which look at the fields the armor classes are stored in. In most cases this only needs a minor addition to already existing queries. I am also sure, that linking from the Trading Post is possible. Furthermore, I am convinced, that within the time span of one year, these things could have been implemented, without taking away to much time from major projects.
It is out of this educated conviction, I would like to state my personal dissapointment in Arenanet. I think the problem is known for some time now, a solution however has yet to be delivered. I sincerely hope you will recognize this as a real problem and work on an improvement soon.
Yours sincerely
Natsu
