Trading system, why there should be one!

Apparently, my topic came out a minute after Raine Akrune’s topic came out, make sure you check both topics to hear both opinions of Raine Akrune and mine!
Yup, it just goes to show you while people may find different issues they all lead to the same conclusion: Add a trade option!

There is a trade system.
It’s called Black Lion Trading Post.
Why not person-to-person trading?
Because that would allow elitist micro-economies lead by third-party auction sites with no risk of scam to exist. And controlling the economy being harder.
Auctions are very bad for economies. We do not need them.
If you have a trusted friend, you can use the mail. If you just want profit, you can use the trading post.
That works.

Please check the link I posted so you can see exactly why there is a need and the flaw in your post. While you may disagree with people trying to sell things outside the TP, it already happens! People mail things back and forth, the problem is the mail system is not protected so on the off chance you mail some crafting mats to a trusted friend and the game bugs your screwed. There is no way to get them refunded/returned through ANet.
People looking to get things crafted regularly need to have a safer means of trading materials to other players.

BLTP is alot easier, sell what you want to trade and use the money to buy what you want.

That still does not solve anything involving the transfer of crafting materials between players. The idea that crafting is solely in game for your own personal gain and to sell items on the BLTP is crazy. There still needs to be a solid system for people to trade between themselves and not the Big Brother Market.

Why?
The ‘Big Brother’ market helps keeping the economy in check, and creating ‘profit loops’ much harder.
In GW1, people could trade directly even items that had a trader. As a result, quite often many people avoided the trader altogether.
The trader still set bare minimum prices (why would you buy from the one selling at 10K if it’s at 8K in the trader?) but since the trader chances prices depending on what people sells to them, as few people sold to the trader, the trader kept high prices that didn’t reflect the actual drop rates.
Also, since you could trade items for items, and there was so many waaay effectively farming builds, those two issues worked together to create such a massive inflation that gold became practically useless, and people used items as coins instead.
The problems a completely free player-to-player system generate greatly outweigh the benefits.
The closest thing to what you suggest that I would agree with is setting a name to an offer when you put it on sale in the trading post, so they get it in the ‘received’ box in the trading post under a subsection, with a button on their right to affect the offer.
If they accept the offer, the costs for the transaction are deduced, they get the item, and you get the money, if they reject the offer, both money and item are sent back to your own received box.
Any form of trading system would be great, I’d love to see a player to player trading system, it worked in other MMO’s and didn’t cause an economic instability that went out of control did it? If it works there, it should work fine in guild wars 2 too I think, but still, everyone’s opinion is appreciated.
i like the idea of a trading system but it will only lead to more spam in lions arch and everywhere else so i rather not have it
Nah, I think that won’t happen…
Let’s say they were to add a personal trade option … now what do we do about all the
WTS: xxxx
WILLING TO BUY: dddddd
SELLING CHEAPEST XXXX
and on and on scrolling by faster then you can see spam that gw1 was plagued with?
